The more I talk to friends who have kids in all kinds of schools—public, private, Christian, hybrid—the more I grow in my appreciation for Mars Hill. The school was founded on a commitment to glorifying God in all aspects of life, and that continues to permeate every class and every activity. The school is committed to truth, to thinking clearly, to reasoning soundly, and to cultivating a lifelong love of learning about the world God made. We can't say enough about the teachers in particular. They take genuine pleasure in their subject matter; they demonstrate sincere devotion to God; and they love and enjoy our children. Each teacher our kids have had has helped us grow in our understanding of our children's character, both in areas of gifting and in areas that need growth and correction. The standards for discipline are high (one of our own children has been deservedly suspended), but this helps create an atmosphere of respectful joy that I have not seen in any other school.

I am the parent of a kindergartener at MHA and have thus far really enjoyed our experience at this school. Even almost 2 years in, when I walk into the school I think, “I can’t believe this school gets to be in my area”. Plenty of parents have made sacrifices and intentional commitments to be a part of this place. The staff and teachers are exceptionally kind and helpful. The teacher's communication with parents is top-notch. I am confident when I drop my son off that he is not only safe but cherished and cared for by his teacher and many, many others. What drew us to MHA was the academic rigor and unique curriculum but what we’ve realized we needed more than that now that we are engaged is the supportive community of parents, students, and staff. I believe they want what is best for the students and that they are on mission together to educate children in what’s true, beautiful, and good.I’m pretty honest that this is not the best fit for every family. The expectation at MHA is that the school comes alongside the family in educating the student. As such, parents are a valued part of the process in their child’s education. While in no way is this a homeschool co-op, there is an ongoing trust between teacher and parent that you are brainstorming and troubleshooting anything that comes up in the process of educating. Additionally, MHA is not the place for a family that is looking for dozens and dozens of unique extracurricular options. They truly focus on doing a few things very well. For my family, this was intrinsically attractive. We, like many other younger millennial families, don’t fully see the benefit of over structured schedules for students (especially young ones). MHA is the right fit for a family that wants to instill the love of learning in their student, values Christian truth and goodness, and appreciates smaller class size/teacher support. We have been delighted to meet other families that are seeking to raise their children similarly and carry loads of grace with loads of excitement for what education CAN be.

Such an incredible school and community!! Our kids love school. God truly in everything at MHA is incredible, and I cannot say enough about the teachers and staff! Our family has been blessed for years to be a part of this community.

Mars Hill Academy's curriculum is delivered from a Christian worldview deeply rooted in God's Word. The academics are excellent, the teachers truly care for the students, and the family community loves and supports each other. Opportunities for athletics, arts, science, and math abound here for everyone. After partnering with Mars Hill for over 10 years, I highly recommend this school.

Our kids have attended Mars Hill for 9 years so far. Amazing school school and amazing staff. The school is very challenging for students academically. Students definitely must learn to discipline their time, plan their work and work their plan to keep up with academic work loads. The upside is that they will learn how to learn, learn how to study, grow and be well prepared for life / university studies. The community of parents and staff at Mars Hill is absolutely amazing. The teachers don’t just work a “job” but they take a genuine interest in your child. They love the kids and they love God. You truly feel like you have a “village” assisting you in raising your children if you desire that. The administration in general is also second to none. This is a classical Christian school (top ranked in the nation) and they definitely teach the children from a Biblical world view. I highly recommend Mars Hill.

I attended this school for 13 years and I can say that I would not have wanted to go anywhere else. The elementary years were great, and although there were some hiccups during the later years, overall it was a positive experience. The teachers were wonderful and I feel that I have developed the necessary life skills that I need in order to be successful. The only issue that I had was the school’s harsh religious undertone. The school is extremely traditional and seems to look down upon anyone with a different Christian perspective. They are pretty clear about their belief system upon coming to the school, but nonetheless there could’ve been more grace shown towards those who think differently.

We have had a wonderful experience at Mars Hill. Our kids have thrived in the highly structured environment. We recommend Mars Hill to parents every time we get a chance.

Mars Hill has been a tremendous blessing to our whole family! Their commitment to coming alongside parents and helping them with their covenantal duty in raising their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord is apparent in everything the school does, from offering parenting classes to its open door policy with parents, clear communication, and transparency throughout the discipline process. I have grown as a parent because my children are Mars Hill students. My faith has been strengthened through the school's commitment to classical, Christian education and their conviction that everything begins and ends with Christ. The teachers are amazing and certainly called and gifted as educators. My children have yet to encounter a teacher that isn't passionate about what they teach and passionate about their faith. I wish that I had been in a math class growing up where I heard that we glorify God through math because it celebrates the order God put in the universe. That is what my children hear every day, in every class. The first thing that is discussed in a parent-teacher conference is not your child's academic performance, but how God is shaping their character. Mars Hill is doing tremendous work for the kingdom of God by laying a firm foundation of Godly thinking and Christ-centered worldview for each student.

So thankful my children have had the opportunity to attend MHA and learn from the wonderful faculty.

This is not a school for everyone, but they do not advertise that when you first get there. If your student does not fit the mold they are trying to produce, it can become a very harsh place where your child ends up feeling stressed and like something is wrong with them. It is probably a really great school for super smart kids, but even your average student will struggle and probably not live up to their expectations.

In a word: "Outstanding." We are 5+ years in with MHA. We are so pleased that Mars Hill endeavors to:1) Pursue excellence in all matters, 2) Work carefully and thoughtfully with parents in partnership with them when discipline or academic performance matters arise (as they tend to do with all children at one time or another), 3) Develop the whole child - spiritually, socially, academically (in the rich Classical methods) - with a view to generate life-long lovers of learning.Make no mistake - MHA is challenging, and rewarding, as many challenging things in life tend to be.We find ourselves continually impressed, and encouraged by and learning from others in the Mars Hill community how to be better parents, better lifelong learners, and deeply appreciative for a Classical and Christian school right here in Cincinnati. We often comment to each other, "I wish I could have gone here when I was a kid."

Awful. I could not recommend the school to anyone. While we met some wonderful families/friends during our time there… Overall it was a very poor experience for all of our children.

Our daughter is in her 8th year at Mars Hill Academy. We can honestly say that we are pleased with all aspects of her educational experience. The academics standards are high and the Bible is woven into every subject area. Mars Hill Academy is a great model of classical education.Parental involvement is encouraged at all grade levels. You are always welcome to walk into the classroom and just absorb what your child or young adult is learning. Research classical education. What's Grammar? Logic? Rhetoric? Come sit in the classrooms and explore. Character building is done on a daily basis here and Christian community is evident. Our family is very blessed to have found Mars Hills.

Our sons have had an incredible experience here. From entering at an older age and worrying about fitting into a new school to worrying about the work load, our boys have been surprised and thrilled to have been received by welcoming classmates and led and encouraged by a staff of teachers who truly care about their learning and development. Our younger sons were also welcomed into the school by the kindest teachers you could find. They walked alongside our sons as new students and ensured they would thrive. We've also had opportunities at both the grammar school and high school, to walk through their discipline process and found the administration to be grace-filled and kind even as they addressed behavior or attitude problems in our kids. Kids are far from perfect and while the standard of conduct is high, the way the staff deals with breaches of conduct have built our sons up rather than tear them down. We are thankful. The enrichment opportunities are also excellent, in particular the World View Summit offered to all high schoolers. This event allows students to travel to Washington DC each January to hear from high-level speakers on important cultural topics, enabling students to put their education into practice. Its an amazing experience!

I would rate it excellent in all aspects of learning.

Awful. Don't be fooled by the details. (outdated) This school *spanks* kid's bums. The amount of homework is decent, but from my son's experience, although they do math one grade above, he says it's still too easy. There is nothing above, just a certificate that does absolutely nothing at allllll. A CERTIFICATE. Don't go. Please.

When I came to Mars Hill Academy as a scared, introverted nine year old, I was not sure what to expect. I was surprised by how friendly and welcoming everyone was, and I quickly came to love MHA. Mars Hill was my second home from 3rd-12th grade, and was and has continued to be a blessing in my life. It's true that the academics can be very challenging, but the teachers are also very selfless and encouraging, and they truly want all of their students to succeed academically. More importantly, they want to see students grow closer to God, and develop a mature faith and love for Him. The MHA community is uniquely supportive and tight-knit, allowing younger and older students to form friendships and influence one another, a microcosm of the Body of Christ as a whole. I am now a freshman in college. I have been happily surprised at how well-prepared and how far ahead of my peers I am academically. Without a doubt, this is due to my education at Mars Hill. I would absolutely recommend Mars Hill Academy. The education students receive at MHA will benefit them exponentially in higher education, the work world, and wherever life takes them.

After sending two children through public school my wife and I decided that we needed to find a better educational environment for our younger children; we needed to find a school that aligned with our Christian worldview (not the culture) and one that would teach our children how to learn and how to love to learn (not just to pass a state test or prepare for college). God led us to Mars Hill Academy and for that we are exceedingly thankful. MHA is everything we hoped and prayed for and more! Our children are thriving in joyful, respectful, and Christ-centered classrooms led by extraordinary, loving teachers. The school is reinforcing the Christian beliefs that we teach our children at home and our children have really developed a true love of learning (and they can t wait to get to school every single day). We thank God nearly every day for this school, its teachers, and the incredible positive influence it has had on our children. We would award this school ten stars if we could!

Mars Hill Academy is an amazing place. We joined the school when the oldest of my three children was in third grade. We felt immediately welcomed and at home. The staff made our transition as smooth as possible, and the other students reached out to our kids and they quickly made friends. The teachers at MHA are wonderful, and we are continually impressed with what our children are learning. They're not just learning information for the sake of passing a test and moving on to the next subject. They're actually learning how to learn with skills that are built upon each year. Now that my oldest has graduated, we see first-hand that the classical method of education really works! MHA students are well-prepared for the challenges of college, both academically and socially. If you're looking for a Christian school that focuses on producing lifelong learners with godly character, I would (and do!) highly recommend Mars Hill Academy.
