So far the experience has not been good, granted my child is just now finishing kindergarten so hoping for a better experience next year. My child should not be yelled at to the point of tears, rather the educational environment should be supportive. My child's paper was snatched from her by the teacher and crumpled up. When confronted, the teacher adamantly denied doing so and instead blamed it on the child when these behaviors had been observed previously with other students. Children being left in the hallway for the majority of the day as well as missing art/music/recess etc because the teacher is unable to effectively communicate the expectations for the assignment. Additionally, leadership is sorely lacking at this school as there appears to be little oversight of the teachers. Minimal communication with the parents even when the child goes to the office after getting hurt. Also, the phrase "sometimes parents think they know what is best for their children when they really dont" should not come out of the principles mouth. Not sure any other school is any better as public education needs a complete overhaul however the lesser of two evils is still an evil and this school leaves a lot to be desired.

Steele Elementary is a wonderful elementary school that is driven by ensuring all their students succeed in developing academically as well as ensuring their social, emotional and physical development is not forgotten. This is truly a one of a kind school system. If you are looking for a school where your child will be encouraged, inspired and be genuinely cared for and welcomed, then you have the right school! Each teacher has their own unique talents that empower the students and boosts their self esteem. This school is the perfect size for students to thrive! Steele recognizes the importance of updated learning resources. It's nice to be part of a school that sees the value of an Arts & Music when so many schools are cutting these programs. They have great extra curricular programs like Mileage Club, Chess Mates and Success Lab that gives kids tools to stay phsyically and mentally sharp. The PTO hosts great events that brings the community together. I love that the faculty truly cares about each child's well being emotionally, physically and academically. As a parent of a Steele student, I cannot say enough about the effort that they put forth each and every day to ensure all the children succeed. Go Bulldogs!
