Everyone at Hughes are awesome. The principal interacts alot with students. The only issue I've had was nothing getting done with students having lice.

The Principal at Hughes is pompous and rude. He treats other adults as if they are lesser beings. Hopefully his bad attitude doesn't also apply to the kids. The other staff, in my experience, has been polite and friendly. Having a boss like that, I feel for them!

I love the teachers at Hughes! They truly are a caring dedicated group. My children have received excellent teachers each and every year! The education my children have received has been personalized and caring. The only negative about the school is the principal. She does not belong with young children. She came from the high school and it shows. She does not have the same warmth and caring that Tom (the previous principal) had. She is rude and disrespectful. If the principal was replaced, this school would be a 10!!

My children have all graduated from Hughes and my nieces now are going there so I'm glad I will get to go back to volunteer in their classroom...I love it there, my children have done so well and have so many wonderful memories over the past 10 years.

Since the new administrator, this school is slowly losing its appeal. She wears tatoos, colored hair, short skirts, and likes to argue with parents. She doesn't really seem to like kids actually. The morale or culture of the school seems tense, distrustful, or unsupportive of one another. I'm looking to move our children elsewhere unfortunately.

My son loves it here.. He's beyond excelling even & his behavior has improved greatly! His teacher is amazing & makes time for individual kids when needed. & the principal is way nice & very involved in all aspects. Everyone has been very welcoming also. It's a shame the Great Schools rating is lower (6) for this school because It's truly an awesome school!! I'm sure that will change tho. If you understand how that grade is established & look @ the test scores, you'll notice 1 grade level is exceptional, but the other is low.. So overall the grade gets smooshed because 1 grade level didn't test so good.. & its only based on 1 year, so... I def see that changing! Community Ratings are Top Notch ;)
