We absolutely love this school. It feels like a family. The principal knows every student’s name. Family involvement is encouraged and welcome. The teachers not only support learning and differentiation in the classroom, but they support students outside of the classroom through tutoring, attending student extracurricular activities, and more. There are many clubs for students to get involved in and the drama program is fantastic.

We have had a very positive experience at Burruss. Our student has thrived here. We appreciate how this small school embraces and celebrates its diversity and supports its students from all backgrounds. The sweet, small, neighbor community feel cannot be understated.

When we were moving to Marietta, we knew we wanted to be a part of Marietta city schools, and I’m so thankful that we landed at Burruss! The teachers at Burruss really care for our students and their academic achievement. Most importantly, the community that this school has developed is unmatched!

Cannot speak highly enough about this school. Small class sizes, devoted teachers and staff who work hard to see every child and meet them right where they are, learning differentiation, freedom for kids to be kids while still making outstanding academic progress, extra curricular opportunities, diversity, family involvement and leadership who pour their hearts into the kids. "ALB is the school for me!"

We love A.L. Burruss! It’s a special place - the ratings are not an accurate picture at all of this school. I highly recommend touring to see it for yourself! My son and daughter have both come through this school and I have one more about to start Kindergarten. My kids have been well taught and well cared for! They have some of the BEST teachers. They truly love their jobs and it shows in their passion for teaching. We also really love the smaller class sizes. My daughter calls the school her second family because she knows how much they care for her - can’t think of a better endorsement!! ALB is definitely the school for me!

We are so far having and excellent experience at AL Burruss. The class sizes are small, the teachers and principal know each child by name, the education in 1st grade was more difficult that I expected and presented in an age-appropriate and engaging way. Our teacher is excellent at communicating with parents and always keeps us in the loop about the goings on of the class, where further help might be needed and when your child is succeeding. 5 stars from our family!

Unfortunately we did not do any research about this school before moving to the area. My daughter showed signs of attention deficit since her first Kindergarten year. When we approached the school they told us she was just too young. She went back to kindergarten her second year and we barely received any support from the school. We had to hire a private tutor to help her with reading and she improved. The school later suggested that she didn't need any support since she was getting average scores and she was fine. I tried to explain to the school her improvement was due to her tutor but they dismissed our concerns. For families that don't have the means to pay for support outside the school, this will be very hard since the school does almost nothing to help students.

Our child has had incredible teachers, but one teacher that has really inspired her is Mrs. Edmondson-Goodman. She has blossomed into truly loving math and science and we attribute this to "Mrs. EG" (as she is affectionately called). Mrs. EG uses technology in a way that has our child creating and not just consuming. She makes videos of herself explaining word problems. The other students can comment and they work together to solve problems. Her STEM activities are engaging and have my daughter hooked. She loves going to class and is flourishing. I also appreciate Mrs. EG's understanding of the emotional needs of her students. She helps our child develop grit in a safe way and is still there to comfort when she needs help deescalating. Mrs. EG is a gem and we are so thankful for her.

This is a great school with a great community. We chose this over East Cobb and could not be happier. The school has great advanced programs for kids on the fast track, and the teachers care and cater to the individuals. It's diverse, welcoming and fun! One thing to note on the test scores in Marietta City (and as such the school rating). Beginning in 3rd grade, alot of the top performing students head to the MCAA 3rd-5th grade school from Burruss. (Which is also a fantastic school). This skews the results that this school is capable of since a good number of the high-testing and high scoring students from K-2nd are now in another school in the district, pulling down the average for Burruss (And since the test is only 3rd and 5th grade that compounds the issue). They would not be able to get into or succeed at MCAA were it not the result of Burruss. Take a tour, talk to the kids, talk to the parents.

My family's experience at Burruss has been fantastic. The administration and staff are always looking for ways to make the school better for every child - increased differentiation in the classroom (flexing for core subjects so children can have instruction on their level - gifted, average or remedial), taking on the challenge of the IB program, and tutorial sessions for parents about the new ways of teaching math/testing so parents can help their students prepare for Milestone testing are just a few examples. the administration and staff have open lines of communication and are willing to take action when concerns arise.

We've been at Burruss for 3 years and have loved our experience so far. The environment is nurturing and challenging at the same time. Mrs King is a leader to both teachers and students. As a parent, I've enjoyed participating in the classroom and on PTA. We highly recommend AL Burruss!

A.L. Burruss is an amazing school full of wonderful students, teachers and families. We chose to send our children here out of all of Cobb County and Marietta City schools. We live the small school size, feeling of community, many ways to get involved and excellent academics that challenge and celebrate every type of learner. This is truly a hidden gem tucked away among quiet neighborhoods and parks in the city of Marietta.

"A.L. Burruss is the school for me." That is one of the lyrics in the school song. And it is very true. As a former Burruss Beaver myself back in the 1980's, I knew I wanted my children to have an amazing experience in elementary school like I did. We chose to move back to Marietta and send our kids to Burruss and have been so happy with that decision. I have 4 students (with an additional 2 Future Burruss Beavers at home) that have gone to Burruss. My children range from one in the gifted program, some middle of the road, and one is special education. Our experience with each of these different programs has been fabulous. They challenge the ones that need to be challenged and support the ones that need the extra support. They offer many after school activities including Odyssey of the Mind, Drama Club, Chorus, Lego/Robotics Club, Art classes and much more. The friendly staff and principal are available for any concerns that you may have. Our principal (who was a teacher back when I went through Burruss in the 1980's), knows each of the children by name. She goes the extra mile for students, parents, and staff. I am so happy with Burruss and know you will be too!

A.L. Burruss a fantastic Marietta City School! The staff is excellent. Most of the teachers are gifted certified and very caring. I have 3 children who attend Burruss currently, and all are very happy, challenged and love school. Burruss is fortunate to have a great principal who cares, listens to parents and is very approachable. Burruss currently has applied for IB certification. I cannot say enough good things about our wonderful school!

Excellent, above and beyond any expectations for learning, inspiring students, warmth and true caring for students by staff, feeling of belonging by my children, positive encouragement to participate in extracurricular activities. Honors Day graduation ceremony will blow you away when you see the percentage of students stand up for the All A & B award. We are blessed.

I have a 2nd grader and a kindergartener at Burruss and we love it! great small school/ community feel. Principal knows all the kids by name. They do an awesome job addressing kids individual learning needs, both on the advanced end and kids who need extra help. There are so many extra programs/events organized by teachers and parents that it gives families opportunity to get involved and engage in their community.
