Not supportive of different ideas. They do not teach students how to think, they teach them what to think. They teach kids how to google stuff and have their faces in screens all day.

I would recommend Manistee high school! It is because of the great education I have been given that I am an almost all A student. Although we need some better math teachers, the school has great extra circulars from Forensics (Drama/debate), to Science Olympiad, Band, Quiz Bowl, Youth In Government, a wide variety of sports such as hockey, soccer for both boys and girls, football, volleyball, cross country, track, and much more! Anyone who claims that faculty is too selective as far as extracurriculars has missed the fact that all you must do to stay on a team is remain eligible (not fail any classes). Manistee has a modern power learning program that allows for a lot of online learning and research, which is great to have as a student, and if you would prefer books for your classes, you can be accommodated. There are several dances, several school wide spirit weeks, assemblies, college visits, dual enrollment, and several electives with great art classes!

I would not recommend this school district. Unless you're an A+ student or an exceptional athlete, you are not given equal opportunities for success

I think that Manistee High School is a great school, the teachers are fair enough, and there is an excellent band program directed by a wonderful teacher. I am in her band class and I think she is one of the nicest, funniest, yet still tough teachers that you will have. She is not a pushover, has a wonderfully strong attitude, and when I moved to this town, my old band director told me that I was lucky to be in her band class. There is a decent drama program, we recently played Little Shop of Horrors with a director who left soon after the show was finished for an opportunity in Grand Rapids. The extra-curricular classes and sports are extensive, ranging from volleyball to anime club. I highly recommend this school for anyone wishing to learn and still have a good time. Plus, the hot lunch isn't bad.

Manistee High School is a great school. I'd recommend it to anyone. With their laptop "PowerLearning" program in full effect, information is much more available to the students. Using Moodle (for homework, tests, quizzes, ect.) and PowerSchool (Grades and Attendance) makes more information available to students. Teachers are great. Many CP classes as well as AP classes. Dual Enrollment through West Shore Community College and online classes through the "Yes Academy". Challenging curriculum. Top notch facilities for athletics, one of the best band programs as well. Great administrators, too. Can't find a better place in Manistee County for acedemics, MHS is the best.
