Our bilingual daughter went to NV Elementary for two years (yr1 and yr2). We moved houses and had to change schools but we were really happy with this school. The school is really supportive and deals with any issues promptly. Our daughter had an amazing art teacher. She adored Mrs Kellogg (year 1 teacher) who retired 2 years ago, in grade 2 she had Mrs Post who was very supportive and kind. The headteacher also seems to be very professional. Overall we were really happy with this school.

I feel there are some very good teachers at Northview. Our kindergarten year was great! But, first grade has been a struggle. His teacher had an awful system of rules which the 5th rule was keep your teacher happy. Plus, my son was very rarely pushed to excel because he was ahead, more like he was held back all year. Plus, the communication from the school was very limited about school event, like they don't really want parents involved. And, the office staff isn't very welcoming either. Principle is friendly and tries to be helpful but doesn't seem to have much control over her staff or teachers.

My children both attended Northview elementary in 2011, and I was not impressed. The teachers here constantly complain about the kids and seem as if they hate their jobs. From 2012-2014 we lived in Colorado and were fortunate to attend an amazing school. My son has speech issues, and the school in Colorado jumped at the chance to help him when I reached out. My son made leaps and bounds in Colorado. Now, we are back at Northview and there are no resources. I am finding outside assistance for speech therapy for my son. I wish others would leave reviews as well....I am not alone! The teachers and staff here are basically unwilling to work with children, period. They automatically accuse your child of having ADHD and recommend that you put them on medication. I expressed to the teachers that as parents we prefer a natural approach, and have discussed the possibility of ADHD with our pediatrician and it is unfounded. I am saying this as a parent who's child has NEVER been in trouble at school because of behavior. He simply has issues with speech. The office staff here is an embarrassment. They talk badly about parents and children they have labeled as "problem children" and they do it in front of other students. When I walk into the office, the staff is typically playing on their facebook page, and won't even look up until you ask. I am doing everything I can to get into a different elementary school next year. My children deserve better.

We moved to Manhattan February 2014. I think any parent would be concerned about the transition, but it was flawless! She had a wonderful 3rd grad teacher and a fantastic 4th grade teacher. Her teachers know how to motivate her. They are very interested and involved in her life and education. Her teacher noticed that she was slacking in an area she is very talented in and pushed her to excel in a very positive and effective way. My daughter has always hated PE (not very coordinated) but even their PE program has her talking about all kinds of new and different things they are doing that interest her. Way better than anything I ever had as a kid.

I had heard bad things about this school when we moved back to the Manhattan area. My daughter has now attended school there for three years and we have had three FABULOUS teachers! Yes, there is some student drama but I think that would be any school. My daughter went from struggling in reading and math to then scoring over 90% on the state assessments this last year. That is thanks to three wonderful teachers (Shepek, Duckworth and Clark) who brought her up to where she should be and beyond.
