The school and most importantly the staff do care. 12 hour days with low pay. Sometimes caring isn't obvious to those who write negative reviews but staff and administrators have given everything to improve and support students.

This is coming from me as a student here, I would not recommend your child going here. reason 1, I guess it's okay for the bully to get away with everything but the victim gets it all. Number 2, The teachers don't help and they don't really encourage you to try and they only really help the smart kids. There's so much racism here it's unbelievable. The teachers constantly put pressure on the non-academic students here. When they call homes they make some crazy stuff up and don't help us solve the problem, also this school is dangerous because we constantly have fights here DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD HERE!!!

bad school. don't send ur kid here. the teachers do nothing about bullying and blame all mental health issues on our phones. they take no responsibility for any stress or anxiety any kid experiences. They don't respect us and don't see us as actual people with thoughts and feelings and valid trauma.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL. it is infested with bullying and constant threats among the students. the teachers do absolutely nothing to help any situations and instead they pick sides rather that hear the whole situation. barley any of our school funding has went to our education, most of it went to upgrading cameras that had no need to be upgraded. school used to feel like a safe place for me but being at this school does NOT make me feel safe. they lack so much contact with eachother it’s embarrassing. the teachers never get informed by the office if anything changes, or any current situations. its utterly disgusting how these adults dont have these kids in control. children are constantly walking out of class, into other classes etc. they falsely mark children and ‘truants’ absent even when their parents have communicated with the office that they will not be there that day. as that happened to me i have been warned multiple times for truancy because they falsely unexcused my absences! they have disclosed my personal information to other families parents as well. please for the love of god dont let your child go to this school, this is possibly one of the worst schools in madison JUST because the staff refuse to put funding into the education we actually need. if you send your child here then youre signing their fate. i doubt that many who have went to sherman will succeed in life due to the horrific habits they have made in middle school. i know some genuine caring teachers at sherman but the ones who dont care overweigh it. please dont go to this school. its so drama infested it has made me feel very unsafe at school. worrying if kids are spreading around my business, lying about me and calling me a ‘slut’ behind my back. these arent nice kids, this whole environment is toxic and no one does anything to stop or protect the community. the staff wont let us use our phones to text or call our parents as we can ‘use their phones’ instead. i find that incredibly frustrating especially because school staff have no right to meddle into my life. if i dont feel comfortable saying something infront of someone then i shouldn't have to. there are constant lockdowns and kids doing weird stuff in the bathroom. there are always fights and they are never stopped the right way. last year a teacher got punched in the face by a student. i am worried that something violent may go down because of the amount of kids who are mentally ill here, no teachers listen.

This school is severely understaffed and I can understand why. There are CONSTANT fights, the hallways are impossible to walk through. The building is collapsing and is constantly disgusting. Even from last year to this, I have noticed more strain from the teachers and less effort from students. Possibly the only good thing I have to say about this school is the orchestra/band. Other than that there is absolutely no reason to attend this place.

Personally, I would go to a different school if I had the choice. The only thing thats stopping me from leaving is their pre-university program, which I've heard is really good.

Sherman was one of the few schools in Madison with a free and reduced rate if 78% that met expectations according to the new school report cards. Great diverse school to attend.
