I really have enjoyed our time at Emerson. There are many opportunities to get involved and stay active in the learning environment. My daughter dealt with some kids who were dealing with some personal issues. They were lashing out at her. The principal and the teachers worked together to achieve the same goals-protect my child and help the other kids receive special guidance. They were not treated as outcasts and punished but rather guided in a better direction. They were gentle and supportive. I saw some major changes for the better in a lot of the students who struggled at the beginning of the year. The only negative comment that I can make is that the women in the office are just awful; not friendly, very rude, and horrible at communication. They need new jobs. They should not be the first face you see when you walk into the school. They do not represent the friendly and professional nature of the rest of the staff. Cheers!

I would say this school is one of the worst schools to send your child. It's almost the end of the year and I feel as if I need to pull my child out from this establishment. No help what so ever with staff.

Our oldest child is in 2nd grade at Emerson and it has been a great experience so far! Classes are kept small - less than fifteen students per class and there are often assistants in the classroom as well. The curriculum is strong and carefully adapted to for each member of the diverse student body. The teachers are dedicated and the principal is truly remarkable - a strong leader who is responsive to parents and has recruited great new teachers. The PTO is active - a small but growing and dedicated group. PTO has sponsored a number of family activities, including a carnival, plays, science night (big fun), and literacy night. The PTO recently led efforts to remodel the school library through a grant from a private foundation. The population is diverse with students from many income levels and backgrounds. A big challenge. We have been impressed with how well the staff effectively deals with these challenges and encourages respect and pride in Emerson students. We've seen the staff help solve conflict and implement proactive strategies to promote respect among students. In our experience, so far so good! We feel lucky to send our kids to Emerson.
