great!!! I'd give them an 8/9 out of 10. The teachers are always keeping parents update like with dojo app. The principal helps everyone out and can always be found, very easy to talk to. Can't forget the office lady Donna, great memory always makes me feel welcome. I love this school

There is so much more to a school than standardized test scores! Sandburg is a wonderfully diverse school! For about half of our children, English is the second language. Approximately 33% of children whose naive language is English are enrolled in a program (by choice) where they are taught in Spanish. So, reading in English is tough for a large majority of our 3rd grade population. These same kids are the ones that will outscore their monolingual peers in both languages starting in middle school. (Decades of research proves this!) Sandburg has highly qualified, dedicated, and compassionate teachers. There is a good balance of experienced teachers and new teachers offering fresh ideas. The principal is highly involved in the life of the school and is rarely found in his office, preferring to get to know the children and families and supporting his staff. Sandburg has a large range of programs for children to participate in. Dual Language Immersion (English- Spanish), Swing Choir, Open School House (free enrichment classes for students and families), Family Nights, Orchestra (strings), even uni-cycling, etc. and an active Parent-Teacher Organization. This is a great school!

My daughter has completed 4K and is currently in kindergarten at Sandburg Elementary. We love this school. The teachers are amazing, patient, and communicate extremely well! The principal, Mr. Wilfred, is wonderful and knows the students by name. They adore him. I love that they integrate technology through the use of iPads in the classroom. This school is definitely not a 2 of 10. There are many ESL students, which may influence test scores. Some parents could be more involved, but that affects his/her child, not mine. We will be moving out-of-state soon, but I would not hesitate to send her to Sandburg again!
