I realize that this is a small town, with very few resources, and the quality of the teaching staff is based on the demographics of the area, and that is unfortunate, How can you expect to get quality teachers to come out and live in the desert so they can teach? That is the problem, the best teachers want to work in the city where there are more tax dollars for their school needs, what Lucerne Valley get's is the left overs, the teachers that can't find work any where else leaving them no choice but to come to the outlaying areas to find work. it isn't anyones fault it is just how the system works. This is a tough area to live in because there are no Jobs to support the population. Parents are forced to drive long distances for employment, and I suppose they don't have the time nor energy to demand a better school environment for their student.

I am not exactly sure what socioeconomic, ethnicity, and location based algorithm, they used to compute these numbers, but I assure you they are wrong !!! 2 out of 10 is some kind of mistake on the part of Great Schools .org, I recommend that they go back and plug in the correct numbers and run this calculation over again...This is a Great School, our kids love it here, most of the teachers and staff are local to the area, We see them at the local grocery store, We see them at our restaurants, they are easy to talk to and are always happy to discuss our children's education... It is my understanding, that the test scores have been going up year after year at this school but yet the 2 out of 10 never changes ? For the last 4 years I have been checking the scores of our local schools, several times a year, before the school year begins, Spring break, after school is out for the summer, but yet this information has never changed. Which leads me to believe that IF, this information is somehow correct it is based on test scores and socioeconomic, data that is several years old...

Lucerne Valley has maintained class size reduction providing low student teacher ratio for years. Their after school drama club that just completed a 2 day, 2 night run with amazing results! Fabulous sets, costumes, high student achievement and great fun for all! They also have a FREE after school program with a late pick up time. As a small school Lucerne has a good handle on behavior issues and no gang problems! Lucerne also offers a weekly Chorus during school and a before school a Show Choir. This school always participates in the County science fair and has had students compete in the State Science Fair. They always promote and send the entire 5th grade to a week long amazing Science Camp where team building is a key component. Their weekly NASA club has high interest and has had projects displayed in Washington, DC. The Computer LAB is preparing to offer more advanced computer opportunities for the coming year, but already offers several programs for individual instruction and advancement. They have an awesome special education teacher who is sought by many. Her knowledge and tireless work ethic are an incredible benefit to her students. Come check out LVES!

I transferred my child here because it is the only district in the vicinity with a student/teacher ratio of 20 to 1. I am highly involved with my child's education. My child is also a motivated learner. With the teacher/parent/student components working together, my child has flourished this year. Are there issues that arise? Sure, but I teach my child to deal with them without violence, teach her words can sometimes hurt, and show her how to respond to work through the problems (so that there are positive results). I would recommend all parents to send their kids here. There is a huge difference in the atmosphere from the past.

We have a wonderful "new" princiapal. She is the best! The teachers go out of there way to support the kids and provide encouragment. You get a sence they really care. This is they way school used to be. We moved out of another district to have our children educated here. I trust this school with my children.
