My husband and I took a tour of the school, fully expecting to send our son there for his freshman year. However, after simply asking the question "Are the students punished for forming their own opinions about Bible topics?", the whole tour changed. You would have thought that I asked if it was okay for students to sacrifice animals. The day after, the Director of Admissions called me to confirm whether my husband and I were married or divorced. Not that it should have anything to do with sending my child there, I confirmed that we were married. I then received a call from the assistant principal asking some crazy questions like if I was an atheist.

First of all, the disciplinary enforcement is very inconsistent. It seems like that the students who are more disobedient are the ones who get the most chances to correct themselves. Instead, it should be the students who behave themselves but sometimes make mistakes cause we’re all human who should receive grace. For instance, I got in trouble my sophomore year because I was on my phone checking my grades. No one created the phone rule because students were checking their grades. The phone rule was created because students were on social media and other things that weren’t school related. This year, my junior year, I got 3 demerits and an after school detention because an ESPN video on my phone accidentally went off without me even touching my phone. I tried talking to get my punishment taken away but they told me that even though I’ve done nothing, I’m still responsible for my phone. Second of all, the teachers cannot teach. I’ve got a teacher who talks for 45 minutes straight every morning when we should be doing more activities to learn. I’ve got another teacher who teaches very slow. We’ve got twelve chapters in our textbook and we’re only in chapter 3 going into the month of April. Another teacher is super inefficient in how he teaches. We spent 45 minutes doing an escape room just to get 10 definitions when he could’ve just given that to us straight up and we could’ve focused on something more important. Another teacher that I have cannot teach. I am having to go on Khan Academy and do their class course in order to study for my AP Exam in May. No one understands the content. I’ve learned more from Khan Academy than this teacher. Also, there is a ton of drama at this school. It is a very small school and gossip goes around very easily. Another issue is that teachers aren’t held accountable. The teacher who gave me demerits for my phone is a little hypocritical. My phone went off without me touching my phone and it happened to him two days later. I expect that teachers hold themselves to the standard that they set their students to. This is completely unacceptable.

My daughter attended there, and unfortunately they promoted a person to principle during the time my youngest was in high school, I have since heard that they fired him, so hopefully it will be better now.

The hateful “biblical” teaching is too extreme. We spend a lot of time explaining to our kids that it’s okay to be who they are, not to judge or hate others, policing women’s bodies is wrong, etc. But that aside, we are not impressed. Upon walking through the school many classrooms have no windows and it resembles a prison. We’ve had issues with teachers looking the other way on our kids struggling academically and behaviorally. We check in regularly to see how our kids are doing and a teacher will say they’re doing great and have no suggestions on how we can help them improve, when we can plainly see that they just got Cs or below on some assignments, or their behavioral grade just dropped twenty percent. They don’t enforce their own policies. Kids with 10 plus absences per year, they don’t contact the parents, follow the procedure they lay out in their handbook, etc. We are a blended family and they seem somewhat biased against “untraditional” families. We’re left out of a lot of communications and they’ve had many problems fixing our contact info and stuff on the online portal and in their records. The athletic program is lacking. We’ve found communication about sports and practices and games to be terrible and last minute. It just seems like a lot of the staff is under qualified, doesn’t want to do their job, or both. If we were the ones paying for this school, our kids would not be going.

Whitefield Academy is a fantastic school. The teachers and staff are amazing and we are beyond pleased with everything about this educational setting from sports to extracurricular activities to the student-teacher ratio…. Highly recommend.

Took the kids out of JCPS. Best decision we've made. Worth every penny. Exceptional staff.

The level of discrimination I have seen against colored people at the school, is truly upsetting. There is a lot of sexism, racism, and especially favoritism. Sexism is demonstrated in the dress code, which is enforced so ridiculously to the point that The zero tolerance bullying policy is 100% ignored. You can see much racism in the way that the staff treats students differently, there are probably about three black people in the whole school. And most colored people I wouldn’t even blame for not wanting to go there, because of the way the teachers treat their students so unfairly. You can see favoritism in many ways at the school it is a big thing it Whitefield academy, but the most upsetting is the fact that a girl receives an expulsion for liking a rainbow, but another student receives no penalty whatsoever for saying the N-word, which actually did happen. This school absolutely infuriates me, and I’m thrilled to be leaving!!!

Overall, my experience with Whitefield was bad. While there are some quality teachers, most are unqualified. Girls are not treated equally with boys--especially in athletics. Girls are given the boy's hand-me-down uniforms. My daughter played soccer and literally had to pin her shirt to her shorts to keep her them from falling down! Dress code is ridiculously enforced--to the point of being more important that anything. Punishment for not following the "rules" are unfair and unjust (students caught smoking pot on school sponsored event were suspended for a few days (clear violation of the drug policy), girl expelled for having a rainbow themed party (which had nothing to do with school) that was deemed to be "gay"). Students and some teachers are downright cruel. My daughter begged us to take her out of this school.

This school tries very hard to provide a good education within a loving, Christian environment. I have had 2 children graduate Whitefield and 1 currently enrolled and despite the fact that nothing is perfect, overall we have been pleased with the learning environment at Whitefield.

Good, until new administration and new pastor family in 2018. Hypocrisy and discrimination now rampant.

Great academics and Christian education! Teachers are wonderful and always willing to help your children, if the need arises. The school needs to work on promoting athletics better and not being focused on just male sports! We need better communication between the A.D., coaches, and parents!Administration is truly wonderful and we are very happy at WA.

Our daughter was at this school from preschool to 8th grade. Through the years we found out that their curriculum on English and Bible was good, but they really lack in Math and Science. She is now in a very challenging high school. She is happier and taking 4 advance classes out of 7 and still at the top of 10 percent of her classmates. At the beginning of high school she struggled in the Math and Science classes, two of her advance classes, due to she never learned at Whitefield how to approach word problems that require reasoning . There was a lot of turn over of teachers in this school, and one year we felt that the teacher hired didn't have the proper qualifications to teach at that grade level. Through the years, there were 2 teachers with mean attitude overall. These two have been on this school for long time. This is a Christian school, and they should be checking very carefully the background of the teachers they hired, and do evaluations every so often about teachers performance.

We thought this would be a great school experience for our preschooler, but because she was a bit more advanced she was labeled a "behaviour problem" and kicked out at age 4. I was under the impression that this was a Christian based school with teaching professionals but it seems that a 4 yr old got the best of them. After their suggestion she be tested, it turns out their curriculum was not challenging enough for her and essentially she was bored. Turns out, after we had her tested (their recommendation, not ours), she had an IQ of 135 and it was suggested she skip kindergarten and go strait into 1st grade. So bottom line, the school was not accustomed to advanced children.

Whitefield Academy exceeds expectations. Our child enjoys small class sizes and a loving environment. The curriculum is advanced, however the teachers are very involved. There is open communication with parents and students to guarantee the success of the student. The school is dedicated to educating students. They also provide a family environment. It is an extension of a loving home. It has exceeded expectations across the board. It is an advanced program and students with behavioral issues as well as lower acadmic progress will not excel in this enviroment. If you want your child in a challenging acadmeic environment that supports Biblical teachings while nurturing your child, I can not recommend a better combination.
