We came over from John Burroughs because the size of the school was overwhelming to my son. He was so happy to make the switch that makes us happy as well. This school is really nurturing and great to be apart of.

My son has been very fortunate to have had teachers at Laurel Elementary who have been supportive and kind, but also full of energy and passion for teaching. My son’s teachers have been very creative and smart. He mentioned that his teacher this year always found ways to make learning fun and engaging for her students. She utilized the latest technology in her lessons and helped her students apply what they learned in class to real-life situations.Laurel Elementary provides a positive and nurturing environment that allows students to thrive and reach their full potential. The teachers and staff are dedicated to helping students succeed and go above and beyond to provide support and encouragement.Overall, I am grateful for this school, as they have played a significant role in my son’s academic success and personal growth. I highly recommend his teacher and school to anyone looking for a supportive and enriching learning environment.

I have been a paren at Laurel CACT Magnet for the last 13 years. All three of my children have learned so much, excelled and grew up in a close nit environment. My oldest graduated from high school this year with a group of friends she made at Laurel and continue being supportive of each other. My youngest is leaving 5th grade due to distance. I will truly miss having that piece if mind knowing teachers, staff and other parents care for my child like if they were their own.

Gracias Laurel CACT Magnet!!

The 2023 principal is sadly unqualified. I have seen her be very rude to her staff even though she tries to be sweet to other parents - it is not a good look. You can tell she is extremely unorganized and I have seen her get angry at her staff for disorganization on her part. I believe that as a principal, they should enforce and cultivate a positive culture at the school. The teachers are very unwilling to stay after school and participate in school culture and it shows from the very top.

New Principle does absolutely nothing to help kids with special needs. Previous principle also ignored any please from parents to stop bullying in their school. Not a safe school. Low score marks across the all curriculum.

Good for my child with anxiety with small class size and great counseling, but wish their were more themes to encourage school pride like Spirit Week & at least one field trip per grade.

It's a great place for the kids! The school is in top shape and is very well secured. The new principal is a very intelligent, diplomatic, and charming personality with an impressive professional academic background. The whole school personal is very friendly, social, and competent. The school consular is a real sweetheart. The fact that my child can stay here through the 8th grade is also a huge bonus.

The office staff is very friendly and helpful. My granddaughters class size this year is only 14 students That is wonderful! The less crowded the class the more attention each student can get and learn. Very pleased

One of the best school. My son spent here 6 yrs. Teachers are amazing! At the school students feel so happy, very welcome. Pretty much like a home environment. Love, love, love this school.

As we are approaching the end of our first year at laurel, I am happy to say that my son will return again next year. It has been a great experience for my son as well as for us. His teacher is the most hard working, caring, smart, dedicated and amazing person. Thanks to her and the whole staff at laurel we have had a successful year. Looking forward to see what first grade brings us!

A very proud parent of a new Panther. The school exemplifies the meaning of diversity and community. The principal Mrs. Diaz is responsive and very visible to the students and parents. Glad we made the choice to stay in the neighborhood and be part of the community.

I would rate it a 1 on a 5 scale. Reasons are: 1The schoolyard is for play is cluttered with containers for storage and unneeded trailer classrooms not being use. Not enough room to play sockball. You basically cannot play on the yard without bumbing into something. They have 7th and 8th grade students going to this school which is not large enough for them. The PE class for 8th graders uses first graders space because the school is small. The 7th and 8th graders do not learn how to grow up with kids their own age such as bancroft middle school and are socially behind for their ages because they are being mixed up with 1st graders. There are no showers for 7th and 8th graders such as with bancroft after excercises. They do not even have a gym. The 14 year old kids are running on a track made for 8 year old kids which is a small circle painted on asphault. It may be good for 1-6 grades but 7th and 8th is a joke. The kids do not mature for their ages like they should because they are stuck in kiddly land until the go to Fairfax High

I am delighted to have a middle school in our neighborhood for my 7th grade twins. We researched every school for miles around, and wound up at a charter school for 6th grade. It is such a relief for my children to come back to a good public school. Laurel has exceeded our expectations for all the extras that schools used to provide. We look forward to 8th grade at Laurel School.
