Principal is a joke. Parents are kept purposely out of the loop and treated poorly when concerns are brought to light. Kids don’t feel safe. Bullying is rampant, yet the only punishment is time out in the “opportunity room”. Education levels are far below other schools we have been involved with. The teachers have no experience, they don’t inform parents about state testing so we can help prepare our students. One teacher slammed my kids hand in the door during pickup, kids are regularly yelled at and berated by staff. Lice outbreaks regularly that the principal; Stephanie Teel, proudly announces that they aren’t legally required to check for lice or alert parents when kids find lice in their hair at school. Kids come home talking about kids in their class have bugs in their hair and play with them in class. Teachers are lazy and WA state curriculum is not even met. This school should be dissolved and absorbed into another that would make good use of our tax dollars. St Helen’s and by extension, Stephanie Teel, is an abysmal failure. How a school can remain open with a 2/10 rating with testing etc is beyond me. Shame on the principal and shame on the staff that are ok with mediocrity.

Overall pretty good! I felt confident that my student was being taken care of when I dropped them off in the morning. My student enjoyed going to school for the first time in a long time! There was always a smiling face at the front counter, my student felt recognized for their good behavior, and the group of friends my student came away with made it very easy to transition to middle school. Being the new kid isn’t easy but Saint Helens did a great job of making sure that my student felt supported, although there were a few things in the classroom that made it difficult to focus, this school really cares about its kids and that is a breathe of fresh air in an educational climate that sometimes lacks enthusiasm from the staff for the kids who need it most!

I have my kids in this school for five years, and from the moment I remember that my kids to study in this school , even today I am happy because that selected ans with a school teacher and up a good front.The school of ST HELENS ELEMENTARY has now best main and the teacher in charge of the students to these years in the past.

My children go to St Helens Elementary and have for the past 2 years. When trying to participate with my kids schooling and to actually see what they are learning it feels as if we are not trustworthy enough to be in the kids learning. I have to pass a criminal background check to have any participation and if we have any past criminal history we are not allowed to participate. I think this school can improve by letting the parents the kids live with participate in all school activities period. If that is too much to ask then they need to send the criminal background form before school starts so that it is taken care of before any activities have started. Make it possible to participate in the kids learning progress at school or I will remove my kids.

this is the best school ive ever seen they help the kids learn and put them in their level of skill they have the best teachers and learning is their #1 priority my child is at a 8th grade math level because of that school and I could easily get ahold of the staff.
