It has been a lot of years since I went to school at Lockhart High. What I do know about the school today is that there is some generational teaching that is certainly to be commended. There may be some struggles they are having right now, but this is a very up and coming area. I am very seriously considering moving myself and my family back to Lockhart so that we can live in an area that I have a great affinity for. Perhaps in the next year or so, we will have the chance again.

The faculty and staff are friendly and helpful, but they are not effective. Students can get easy A's if they put in the effort, but are not prepared to do well on harder state tests or AP tests. They are also not prepared to succeed in college, where they will need to use high level critical thinking and writing skills that are not taught at LHS. It is very difficult to recruit good teachers and administrators to this area of Texas. Everyone is friendly and trying, but there is a reason why the high school has failed to meet minimum state standards two years in a row. Low state test scores give a good picture of how much students are really learning, and for advanced students, low AP passing rates serve the same purpose.

I am a grandparent. My granddaughter is very happy at LHS. She is in pre-AP classes, which makes a big difference. She does the active UIL program, and plays sports. I am not aware of the programs for special needs students or less active students.

I believe that the LISD is the heart and soul of Lockhart, TX. The administration and staff go above and beyond to make sure children are successful. LISD has a completion rate of 95.3% and is a Recognized school district. I am proud to be a Lockhart Lion!

You are obvioulsy delusional if you like the Lockhart school system. The teachers are obnoxious and play favorites. The teachers that are also coaches pay more attention to their sports than to the core classes they instruct, and I feel the education of the students is suffering do to it.

I love the Lockhart school system ! The teachers are wonderful and when a student is struggling , they will drop what they're doing and take out the extra time to help you. The faculty and staff really care about the students and if you want to succeed they will help you every step of the way.
