Children easily fall through the cracks of education here. Work load too big for educators and staff

We love Croce! The community is built in such an intentional and inclusive way that we couldn't imagine being anywhere else. I have a fourth and first grader and have loved every teacher and staff member. The library is incredible, Mrs Meek is a family favorite, the garden is wonderful and Mrs Ferrucci is such an inspiring educator, the science program is so exciting, I could go on and on!

We have had our kids attending this school since 2017. When we first started, we were very happy with the school. The principal was amazing and so involved with the students every day. She seemed to know every students name and would interact with them as they arrived and left from school each day. Our older son is now in 5th grade and his last few teachers have been pretty awesome. I think Croce has a lot of great teachers still. Unfortunately, since 2019, we have been seeing a decline in a lot of other areas at the school and it seems like the teachers are very overwhelmed and under supported by the new admin. Our second child was clearly showing signs of a learning disability at the very beginning of kindergarten. Covid happened and that delayed him getting any help by the previous admin. When he went back to in person learning fall of 2021, we could really see how far this school had fallen, especially with the new admin. Not only do the people in charge not seem to care about the students, but they actually seem annoyed at having to do their jobs. My son so clearly showed signs of ADHD and dyslexia and no matter how many times I brought it up to them and the school psychologist they basically said his issues were attention seeking and emotional rather than academic. We were very proactive in trying to team with the school to help our son and the school just was not about doing what was best for the students. We ended up pulling our son out mid year and putting him in a new school. Immediately, when I explained what I saw happening with my son, the new school got him evaluated and before the evaluation was even complete the new schools psychologist wrote me saying it was very clear my son had a learning disability and pretty intense adhd. Now, he is getting the help and interventions he has needed at along with the full support of a school that actually cares about their students. No shade on all the teachers at Croce. We have loved a lot of them. But, toxicity comes from the top down at any job/school/organization. The admin at Croce have really allowed some toxic things to destroy what was once a really good school. Also, the bullying is out of control during recess but that seems to be a nation wide issue right now.

My Son was going to their Special Ed program. He is having major speech delay and has separation anxiety. He cries a lot and seems tired at home after school. On seeing him crying longer than usual, we came back to the school gate and saw they left him on the floor and the teacher moved on to the classroom door without taking my Kid. He felt scared and as parents it was disappointing to see him left out like that. His pants were wet and cold because they let him lay on the cemented floor on a rainy day.

We have loved our time at Croce. I am on the PTA and there is a lot of involvement to make the school better that it already is! I know many of the staff members on a personal level and love that they are all so pationate about their jobs

*original post did not post*Croce was our neighborhood school when my eldest started Kindergarten. He is now in fifth with a second grade sibling. We've moved and each year enter a transfer request to remain at Croce. It is a school full of pride, respect, hard work and learning. My kids are excited to get to class every day and feel a huge sense of community and accomplishment at Croce. The PTA works their hardest to make a difference and helps to support several staff members, the teachers and providing a sense of community within the Croce families.
