As a current student at Bluestem, I would say I'm glad to have come from another school. I did my elementary and middle school education elsewhere, so I just came to finish high school and graduate. I have to say from my few years here that I'm way ahead of the other students and I've not learned anything new besides in the arts. The fine arts teachers are amazing at what they do and truly care about their jobs. As for the rest of the teachers, it's not too terrible, but it's also not top notch teaching. The only time you get "homework" is if you need to study for a test and that's about all. The student leadership is very poor, and school spirit is kind of rare.More than 50% of the students are disrespectful and rude. Teachers and staff don't punish the kids who need it. I haven't had any problems with bullying, but I know some who do. Reporting the bullying is almost pointless, and this school has the most drama I've ever experienced. People love gossip and teachers join in on it most of the time too. Kids with learning differences are often overlooked and not cared about. Students who are failing are ignored and allowed to fail.Bluestem does have it's positive aspects though. If there's a serious issue with student safety, it gets taken care of. Threats are taken seriously and dealt with quickly. The principal is great, a fun personality, and easy to talk to about any concerns. The teachers are active in the students lives and most of them are really nice people. In the end, I have to say I'd recommend Bluestem over any of the surrounding schools. They're an agriculture and business rich school, they offer a large variety of classes in the high school, and overall the teachers are easy to get along with. If you're an average student, this is the place for you and you will find your group of like minded friends quickly. If you're an advanced or gifted student, I'd recommend going to a larger school in a bigger town/city.

Terrible. As long as you show up and put forth a little effort, you'll coast through which will come back to bite you IF one of their graduates goes to college. Majority of graduates do not go onto higher learning and those that do have a hard time adjusting to harder coursework because the coursework at Bluestem is a joke. As an alumni, I would love to see things overhauled. Just because almost everyone at this school is low income, they are not stupid and they need to be challenged academically.

I have been to this school since 3rd Grade and the school is good in the Elementary, but the high school and middle school suck.

The new principal and vice principal are very involved and know each student. Most of the teachers are wonderful and truly care about the students. The school encourages students who want to continue their education to enroll in dual credit courses, the counselor works very hard to ensure students are looking towards their futures and planning accordingly. This is a small school with mostly farmers, all students are encouraged to participate in sports regardless of talent.

Bluestem is a really great school, I am a Bluestem alumni and I'm so happy I was able to go Pre-K through graduation. The teachers go above and beyond and what is the best part is being such a small school there is enormous amounts of 1-on-1 time with the students. Music program is amazing considering size of school. Super safe for everyone, I never felt unsafe in my 14 years in the district.
