In my opinion, the teachers in this school are very good. If only the same could be said about the school principal. I recommend that prospective parents and students do a search for New Leadership at Manchester Park Elementary on the Change dot org website to see what others have to say about the school and its administrator.

My grandchildren go to Manchester Park Elementary and have wonderful caring teachers and excel in all classes. My grandson recently received a 100% on his state assessment test and has been encouraged to participate in the Math Wings Program...his team of 3 has won the regional contest. I have been there for Grandparent's Day and all of the children are very well mannered, and polite and listen to their teachers.

We have children that attended Manchester Park for several years. The principal,Mrs.Degroot, makes even Joan Crawford look warm and fuzzy. She is unapproachable, militant and resistant to any parental input. The office staff is downright RUDE! They could all use a good dose of Manners 101. My son was BULLIED everyday at recess and NOTHING was done about it. We had NUMEROUS talks about this and were told it would be handled and it never was. The teachers we experienced ran their classes like a boot camp dictating lessons with a sharp, firm intent devoid of any emotion or praise. My children were filled with anxiety to the point of tears over the need for perfection these "teachers" expect. If you want to be disregarded, disrespected, and worry constantly about the safety and security of your child's learning environment, then Manchester Park is the perfect fit for you. This school is run with an iron fist and the staff utilizes that fear based method as a means for results. By the way,get your checkbook ready..The staff plays favorites to families who FINANCIALLY contribute to the school. So,good luck parents and good riddance Manchester Park. You should be ASHAMED of yourself.

My 3yr son is doing very well in school, thanks for the school's excellent teachers and programs, like State-sponsored Enrichment Program for gifted kids. I feel so glad that our house is very close to the school. Much thanks to the Principal and teachers for doing a tremendous job.

A very, very good school. I have 2 kids who have attended MP since kindergarten (oldest is in 4th). We've only had 1 teacher that I've felt was sub-par, and a couple that have been truly great. Mrs. DeGroot knows all the kids, and many of the parents. She runs the place with tight reins, which is needed, or some of the well-meaning parents would likely try to take over! My 2 boys LOVE school, cry on the last day, and look forward to going back at the end of the summer.

My son has gone to Manchester Park since K (he is in 5th grade now) and I have watched it grow in only positive ways. The principal Mrs. DeGroot runs the school like a private school in my opinion (in a positive way). Although it is a larger elementary school, she knows all the children by name and most, if not all the parents as well. Every teacher my children has had has been fair, caring and communicated well with me as a parent. When your children actually wake up and are excited to go to school, I consider it a sign that they must be doing something right!
