The teachers care, and they try their best with what they're given. The Administration is another matter - certain members of the administrative staff are clearly doing everything they can to help these students, but sadly the majority of those folks need to be replaced with more compassionate leadership. My child no longer sees the school as a safe place to learn. My student no longer looks forward to waking up for school, and for the first time ever, my kid is happy to see the year come to an end. Bullying goes unaddressed and results in an environment that makes it exceedingly difficult for the educators and torturous for students.

LMS is growing by leaps and bounds. The current school year, 2019-2020 is above capacity for enrollment. Next year, Town Creek Middle will open and help alleviate the number of students at LMS. This will help lower teacher : student ratio.

Leland Middle School has been a part of my life off and on for a lot of years, My sons went there and now I have grandsons that go there. I have always found the school staff to be very knowable and accessible to parents and the children, in regards to keeping them aware of what is going on in the school. My sons and like I said my grandsons really love the school.

My child has attended LMS for 1 year. He really likes the school and the teachers he currently has for his classes. I have heard good reviews and bad reviews concerning LMS. Personally, I am very satisfied with the professionalism of the adminsitrators and teaching staff at LMS. From what I understand, this is a Title I school that is constantly striving to become better and better on a daily basis. The town of Leland is ever-changing, for the better, and I am proud of the direction we are heading in. The biggest challenge I can see that Leland Middle School has is the huge lack of parental support as evidenced by me attending school functions this year with my son where I observed low numbers in attendance. Regardless of whether you are college educated or not, you can always get off your behind and support your child's education and extra-curricular activities. I couldn't imagine the job the admins and teachers have at this school working with such a tough demographic of students primarly from a diverse rural, low income level. I plan to continue to support LMS and most importantly my son. Better and Better!
