My daughter began her first year of public school at Longview farm this year as a first grader. She has had a wonderful start to public school. She’s made great friends, her teacher Mrs. Hayes was wonderful, everyone was wonderful. That was until my daughter began attending a small group with the counselor. I thought it would be great for her as they would be learning social skills and other helpful things as she is quite shy. We moved less than a week ago but my daughters aunt now lives in our previous home and watches her after school. We decided that since my daughter already made a huge transition, it would be best to keep her in her school for the remaining couple of months and start at her new school next year. My daughter very excitedly shared with her counselor that we moved. This resulted in a very rude phone call from the attendance secretary and being told my daughter was no longer allowed to finish her year at Longview farm. Now I do understand that there are rules. However, there are exceptions to this rule such as childcare as well as certain transfer forms. My daughter is an excellent student and unfortunately the very person who was supposed to help her, left her feeling, sad, scared and traumatized as she is now kicked out of her school. I found both the counselor and the attendance secretary to be unprofessional. What my daughter shared confidentially with her counselor was not life-threatening and did not need to be gossiped about two others. Unfortunately, instead of my daughter‘s best interest being kept in mind we are left fixing what they broke. I still have great things to say about Longview Farm but I would be very careful about what your students may share with some of the staff at the school because they clearly aren’t always interested in what’s best for students.

This is an excellent school! Wonderful principal and teachers. It is a very happy and fun place for kids. My kids love it, and having come from out of state, they did have a comparison. We love the additional clubs and activities (archery, writers club, garden club, etc.) that are available. My kids get the attention, encouragement, and differentiation they need. Parents are very involved and all activities are well attended. The PTA is great, planning lots of fun family activities and providing a great deal of financial assistance for the school & special projects. All the neighborhoods that lead to the school are well appointed, friendly, and safe. We could not be happier.
