I've seen families with children completely coddled because of their proximity to the heads of school. Ones which are failing or making threats to the teacher while some students are asked to not come back because of any attention problems. The administration does not value good teachers thus why many teachers have left, including deans. After applying to different schools, you realize how far behind your child is, at least in the grammar level. There is not a standard to keeping the curriculum similar throughout the grades thus one 2nd grade teacher can be teacher something different than the other 2nd grade teacher. This isn't even in the top half of classical schools in the austin area.

We really love this school! My children adore their teachers, have always received the help and guidance they’ve needed, and have excelled in the university model. The school has set my children up for success in many areas… from academics, to opportunities to be involved in a variety of sports, and socially with meaningful friendships. With the model, study days at home have been so meaningful as a family. I know these are years that we will never get back when raising our children, and to have this opportunity to bond as a family is amazing. The school has a great family feel which as a parent I really enjoy. It is great to know the parents of your student’s peers. There are also great events, from daddy daughter dances, to mother son events, orchestra classes, and a variety of electives and extra curricular activities; there is a place for each type of student to find their niche. This is a loving atmosphere, and I am thankful to be a part of this school!

We have attended Sterling for 5 years and all 4 of my kids love it! We have experienced every grade from preschool to 6th grade so far and been very happy with our experience. We love the Christian environment where students learn about Bible characters, memorize scriptures, and focus on a monthly character trait. They even learn The Lord's Prayer in Latin! My kids love the Charlotte Mason hands on learning style and as a parent I love the Classical model which immerses them in the time period they are learning about. For instance, in second grade they learn about the Medieval times. They do several projects on this time period than have a big Medieval festival with food, costumes, and games outside. My son fell in love with this time period after learning so much about it that he insisted on having a medieval knight themed birthday party! I love that several of my kids had the same teacher as they moved up; they already know them from their siblings having them in the past and feel comfortable from day one. A blessing to our family has been the University Model which means they are at school 2-3 days a week and do work from home the other days. It gives the benefits of homeschool without me as a parent having to come up with lesson plans or curriculum. We use Fridays as adventure days to get outside or visit museums for cultural learning. My kids love being able to do their work at home and I'm especially thankful my kids had a part-time Kindergarten experience which is hard to find these days. We also get a month off at Christmas which slows down the season for us and allows for more quality family time as well as travel. Because I'm part of their education I know exactly what they are learning and I also can see where they might be struggling. One of our kids has Dyslexia and I've been so thankful for how Sterling has helped us navigate that. They educated us on how to get him tested, put an Individual Education Plan in place for him, set him up with on-site tutoring, and even gave us free access to Learning Ally so he can listen to his textbooks audibly. Every teacher has encouraged our son and worked with him to help him succeed. Both our older kids have been active in sports and I also love the extensive elective opportunities for all students. Orchestra, extreme science, lego lab, STEM, art, and PE are my kid's personal favorites. We just can't say enough good things about Sterling and recommend it all our friends.

Sterling is one of our family's biggest blessings. It is big enough to have a lot of opportunity, but small enough to feel like family. Our kids love the hands on, project based, classical learning and we love the Christian based curriculum. We are more aware of what our kids are learning, engaged in the classroom, and we see the quality of education they are getting. This is drastically different from our public school experience and we didn't realize it until we left the public school. If you are looking for a fantastic school, with a beautiful campus, family like feel, and more time with your kids around (they go 3 days a week only), this is the perfect place for your family.

My son went through 6th grade and started his 7th grade year as well. We switched a few months in, and it was a painful experience- please learn from me. Though there are a few bright stars in the sky there. Miss Julie was a hero and brought kindness, but there were other teachers lacking empathy for sure. Also, the quality of instruction was lacking in math. My real beef, and what I’d like for you to be aware of, is their ridiculous policy of ransoming grades. What I mean is this…Life happens. You intend to keep your child at Sterling all year, but you may lose a job, need to move, your child becomes depressed and needs a venue change, whatever. Life. There is no room for “life” at Sterling. You’re locked in to paying until either February (if you alert them early enough) or I believe the end of the year. They will not release your child’s grades to your new school until you’ve paid every cent on your contract regardless if you’re attending the school or not, no matter the reason. This means if you cannot pay, or it is a hardship, your child repeats a grade. They don’t care. THEY DON’T CARE. Sorry to lodge the complaint but I want y’all to not trip up on this, God forbid “life” happen to you too.

the academics are fine, and there isn't a bullying problem. however, i dislike the school politics. certain people get away with a lot because of their last name and how much their parents donate to the school

So Far, this is the best school I've been to. The History is Christian based ideas (Like and dislike the idea), The science is a very hands-on experience to figure things out for yourself, English it seems there's a lot of review about simple things that need to be corrected, and Math is ok, but I don't learn some concepts and learn other concepts. Everything is on paper. Only the lesson assignments are online until 8th Grade.

Our overall experience has been positive, and far exceeded my expectations for not only his academic growth, but his spiritual and character growth. The education he received allowed him to be admitted into the college of his choice in the highly competitive Engineering field.

We are so happy that we found Sterling right before we moved to Cedar Park last summer. Our daughter was attending a university-model school in north San Antonio, and Sterling made it an easy transition for our middle school student. We love the small class sizes at Sterling and feel that the teachers really have a chance to know the students. We've also enjoyed the athletic program at Sterling. Our student has been able to try several new sports in the past two years! The coaches are a blessing to the students!

I went to Sterling for part of elementary school and all of middle school and had very few issues until I reached high school. Their high school is run very poorly and the following reviews are mostly in regards to the high school. Looking back I can honestly say Sterling did nothing to better my education and I wish I had been in public school for all 4 years of high school. The issues at this school were the reason I ended up leaving halfway through high school to go to a much better public school. Sterling is not worth the amount of money you pay when there are way more opportunities at other schools. After I transferred to a public school I learned so much more than I had ever learned at Sterling and was given more opportunities regarding electives. Without going to public school I would not have been as prepared for college. I can’t emphasize enough that their high school is just not worth it unless there are drastic changes made.

There is no other Classical Christian School in the Austin area that comes even close to Sterling.

After having our kids in public school, charter school and home school, Sterling Classical School was a breath of fresh air and an answer to prayer! For the first time, our two boys say over and over, "I love school." They are thriving in a positive, encouraging environment where they are given extensive opportunities to grow and succeed. The curriculum is challenging, but completely manageable, and our family has more time together. The teachers are exceptional and the atmosphere is fantastic. With a son who is a Junior in High School, the dual college credits are a huge plus. If you are looking for a great opportunity for your kids and family--look no further than Sterling Classical School!

I have seen several students excel in their education and social skills because of the outstanding curriculum at Sterling. When the latest senior class of just 5 students received scholarship offers in excess of $1 million, that shows the type of education provided by Sterling.

The school model is excellent for college-prep, it truly develops independent thinkers and gives young people a solid foundation for future growth/learning.

A challenging (in a good way) course of study, but one that will hopefully bring out the best in your student. Looking forward to see what they will learn next!

It's really satisfying to know your kids are cared for yet challenged and even loved. If you are in the Leander area this school is totally worth a visit. I asked my son for a one word description and he responded "totally awesome"...yes, guess we still have some learning to do. :)
