the middle schoolers use the K-2 bathrooms during lunch, and write explicit words on the stalls. in the 3 years i went there, the janotors did nothing about it. the boys sexually harrased the girls, and the 2 hours of ST math i had to do was hell.

I was absolutely impressed with what my son learned in first grade. His teacher was absolutely amazing and I am sure he will do just as good in the 2nd grade. As a working parent, I try to be involved as much as possible and I believe that also contributed to my son's first grade experience.

The principal, now in her second year, believes reading is more important than any other subject. She lets amazing teachers go but keeps those close to her that only align with her thinking, even if it means that teachers don't teach history or science. This happened last year, where kids' teachers that exposed them to history or science were shown the door but people that focused on reading more than anything else stayed. The school made the news last year for the Danny Amendola visit and book area, but wake up people. The area was set up by staff that the principal didn't even invite to attend the opening ceremony. That's the kind of person she is. Our kids get great reading lessons but leave without the well-rounded education we expect because she's so focused on the test.
