Many of the reviews are from school leaders or their friends. Please be careful with your decision to send your child to Lanham Christian. Any free time I have I will make it my business to make sure any of my peers looking for a private school in MD do not choose Lanham Christian. They were the only school not at full enrollment in August and I definitely understand why. I thought this place was heavenly until I disagreed with the practice of Vanessa Smith and I was met with unprofessionalism, argumentative tones and a series of excuses with no accountability.

Great! My kids love the environment and they love their teachers. LCS really is a great place to bring your kids as long as they apply themselves and parents are willing to work with them to succeed in the classroom.

I have been affiliated with the school for more than 10 years. I have had one student graduate, and have another currently in high school. I am thrilled with the opportunities that it has afforded my children.

Some of the reviews here are old and do not reflect the current state of LCS. The teachers take their work seriously, they are there to teach and teach they do. If anything, I feel emphasis in various subjects should be lessened in the elementary school to hone in on foundational skills in reading and math. Overall LCS is a good school.

As a former teacher and parent of Lanham Christian School, I was truly blessed to have crossed paths with this school. The administrators create a supportive environment that allows teachers to educate with creativity while accentuating the diverse styles and abilities amongst their staff, which enabled me to use my God given talent within the classroom. This in-turn, creates a positive environment for the students where they are encouraged to think and learn within the same manner. As a parent, I was extremely happy with the communication and challenging curriculum that my child was exposed to. The breakdown of the day allows students to learn core subjects as well as participate in specials (e.g. Spanish, P.E., Music, etc.), and extracurricular activities. Students are exposed to a variety of topics, which alleviates a monotonous approach to their everyday experience. Mrs. Lee of the Pre-K class was also a wonderful attribute. My son started in the school knowing how to read a small amount of sight words. By the end of the school year, he was on a kindergarten level, and with continual practice throughout the summer, which was preceded by a great foundation, he is reading above a 1st grade level before he started kindergarten. For any parent who is looking for an environment that has strong, godly leadership, where the teachers are respected, and the students are challenged in a loving manner, I would strongly recommend the school. Had it not been for our recent out-of-state move, my family would have continued at Lanham.

OK so I am looking at this School really hard now for several reasons. Most of all I like that every question I asked was answered. The children are learning. The staff are well qualified to teach. There is even someone from a major testing board on staff. I visited several schools and this was one of two out of 12 schools I visited that actually answered mY questions with no problem. So LCS here we come!

Be aware! Positive comments are being made by staff! The kids that are receiving A's and B's maybe grades that are given to your child because you are a paying customer! Have your child tested to make sure that they are "honest" grades. Don't let the name of the school fool you!!!

if you really pay attention, LCS has not has any recent reviews until one negative review was made on 2/14/17 now on 2/17/17 we see 4 new reviews. good reviews, full of lies. This is a TERRIBLE school. the teachers are teaching math wrong to the students and students are given grades. If they leave and go somewhere else, they perform below grade level on placement test given by other schools. these teachers are not qualified and they can not teach. please do not send your child here. They claim to prepare kids for college but they can not prepare kids for middle school.

My son had always been in public school and did well. As a public school teacher, my concern was him being in a particular High School here in the county. We choose Lanham. Today is a unique day because all of his grades are A's. He has AP classes that absolutely challenge him and are preparing him to be competitive for scholarship monies as he builds his own academic resume. His Christian life has been much more observably active and visible since joining Lanham. Grateful for their kingdom commitment to Disciple on top of what we are doing at home. Great choice for our child....Great opportunity for yours, I'm Just Saying.

In my 8 years as a LCS student and graduate I felt as if I was completely prepared for college and the next chapter of my life. The teachers were encouraging, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile if needed. They provided me not only with a good education, but a great spiritual education as well. I was able to grow and thrive in a christian environment. All in all I throughly enjoyed my experience at LCS and am glad I got the opportunity to go.

As a parent, I look for and have found a great Christian school atmosphere at Lanham Christian School. The staff work hard to provide a quality Christ centered education for all students. I have read and totally disagree with some of the comments that I have seen posted recently about the school. This is a state certified Christian school with highly qualified educators who pour their heart into what they do. If you are a parent looking for a Christian school in the area, I would suggest that you give Lanham a call and set up a tour.

My son graduated with the ability to get a full scholarship at a nearby college. My daughter is still currently enrolled and loves the teachers and staff there. I'm thankful for a school that puts God first, and education a priority.

Terrible. Run. Find a better school. Principal has no clue. Dear in headlights. Director overbearing. Talks too much. Never answer a question. Don't take criticism. Teachers don't care. They don't teach. My daughter did not reenroll. She is doing great at new school. Good staff and they listen to parents. Not at Lanham Christian. They do not care. Oh, most of the reviews that are glowing are by teachers or employees and church members. Trust me. I know.

LCS exemplifies a Jeremiah spirit! It is staying on the wall on behalf of our children! Strong accusations may have risen against them at a time, temptations may have been darted towards them but they had the tenacity to make tough decisions and this school year we've been able to benefit from it. I appreciate the dedication they have towards our children in imparting Godly principles and a high standard of academia. My family has been blessed to be a part of the LCS BODY! I pray Gods continual blessings upon the spiritual and educational growth of this fine institution!

Three of my kids have graduated from LCS. Coming from across the continent and finding a school that would work with the parents in transitioning their kids to the US school curriculum has been a plus to us. The challenges to the kids was great, but LCS was also challenged to the task and were able to meet that task. We as Tanzanian immigrants found LCS to be a family of understanding and care to the progress of education and life to the young minds they nurture and inspire.

In response to some of the some of the reviews about LCS: 1. Most educators and educationally astute parents know that the most important aspect of education is not finishing the curriculum, but making sure that students truly grasp and master concepts. This is especially true in upper elementary that focuses on complex concepts and not just rote memorization of facts. 2. LCS is one of only 2 private schools in the county that has received state certification. Parents moving their children to other schools should research the impact of the lack of certification on their child's education. 3. The administration is working hard to maintain academic integrity. Students are required to earn grades, they are not just given A's and B's because their parents are paying tuition. 4. Elementary students have daily recess. . They also have weekly art, music, PE, computer and library classes. Middle/High school students can participate in a number of electives , such as, choir, hand bells, yearbook, drama, art, Spanish, and computer. (Anything stated to the contrary is simply no true). 5. Standardized test scores show students are learning! My children will be staying at LCS!

In response to posts here that claim LCS has very little to offer, some of the accolades include: 1. Only one of TWO private schools in PG County with State Certification. 2. AP classes in English and Calculus, Honors classes (no need SAT elective; coursework prepares) 3. National Honors Society chapter. 4. All teachers in high school have a B.A. or B.S. degree or higher from an accredited university (all teachers are required to have at least 125 college credit hours, in accordance with MD state law). 5. 80% of graduates accepted into colleges; many with full scholarships. 6. Basketball Division II State Champions, Volleyball Division II State Champions (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014) 7. High recognition high school drama program at the Folger Shakespeare Festival. 8. Elementary electives: art, music, Spanish, computer, and PE 9. Junior high / high school electives: art, choir, handbells, chess, drama, yearbook, journalism 10. Caring and loving faculty who go beyond the duties of classroom education to teach the value of Christ-centered relationships

I am a graduate of Lanham Christian School(LCS). Having attended LCS 5 years prior to graduation, I was involved in multiple extracurricular activities such as: volleyball, softball basketball, choir and drama. I also was a member of my class student council for my jr and sr year. The faculty, staff and administration played supportive roles in my academic and personal life, most of these relationships are still active today. Personally, I could not have chosen a greater Christian school to attend and graduate.

My children graduated from Lanham Christian School. I couldn't think of sending them anywhere else. I hold the teachers and administration in the highest regard. The teachers work diligently to provide a high level of education including college prep classes. They are always willing to stay and help any student requesting help in any class. Also, the administration worked tirelessly to insure the school become state certified. The school teaches Godly, academic excellence to any student willing to strive to achieve his/her best. I love this school and encourage anyone interested in sending your child/children to a school which promotes Godly, Christian character and academic excellence to seek out this school today.

The board and Administration at LCS have truly run this school into the ground. Their decision to terminate good teachers with no explanation other than finances...the board/administration has terminated the 4th grade teacher and then have the nerve to have outgoing third grade parents come to school for a farce of a meeting, The offer from administration was to offer my child a teacher for half a day and then to have teacher assistants have my child complete paperwork and music and P.E. for the remainder of the day....half-time education for full price tuition.. We have decided to move on and apply to Berwyn Baptist School.
