The homophobia at this school starts with the school board. It is the un-written policy that the school never call an action homophobic or racist, because they feel that is too hard on the kids making homophobic or racist statements. The vice-principal at CMS has equated trans people to furries in a meeting with myself and mental health professionals.

I had a fun time there. Most of the teachers were great and really had a passion for teaching. There were a few that had clear favorites, but I really had a great time. I'd say the only few comparatively negative things about my time there were that,1. Picking my electives for high school was a hassle. I don't know if other people had this issue but not everything was clarified, some courses you had to dig to find, and even when I thought I had a schedule that worked, they would tell me that I had a low chance of getting any of my courses or make me redo the form because of a condition I was not told beforehand. 2. I had noticed not a lot of moderation for profanity, people would yell and swear in the hallways and constantly on the bus. There were a group of students who found entertainment in collectively being pretty mean to a few specific kids. The teachers didn't approve of it but to my knowledge not much was done. These were really the only things that I had an issue with and both were probably specific to my school year, and none of that should discourage you. The teachers were great and made each class fun. You could tell that they cared. Throughout the year there would always be events to look forward to. It was a tight-knit community where everyone knew each other. I had a VERY fun 2 years here and I think you would too.
