NJ schools in general seem to lack funding. This school has small class sizes and teachers seem to be very compassionate in what they do. It’s a small school so no bells and whistles. I wish that they would do class trips ect. Bullying seems common in Ocean county over all and schools need to get more creative. Overall it has been a very pleasant experience in this school. Office staff are always friendly and accommodating to meet your needs. Teachers have excellent communication with parents as needed. I feel like it was necessary to leave a good review because people only seem to make the time to leave bad ones.

Our children and grandkids attend LHS. All have done very well. Two with learning issues were evaluated and taught according to their abilities. They too have done well. My only complaint is the lack of a music/drama program. Academically, the school is excellent.

I have raised three children in Lakehurst. I felt they all received an excellent education. I loved the small class sizes, which led my children to develop long lasting friendships. All my children went on to graduate college and become productive members of society. This is a testament to Lakehurst Elementary, Manchester High School and the community as a whole. I am saddened to hear any negativity regarding our school and/or our community. State testing is not an accurate reflection of our students success. Parental involvement is probably the most important factor. As a whole, this community /school is incredible. If your experience has been less than perfect , lets make a change together. We need to attend board meetings or become a board of education member. Change isn't only needed on the local level but the state level too. The least we can do is insist on the best for all our students. We need to get back to teaching our children to love learning, embrace knowledge and to be happy. It's time to get rid of testing.

Very disappointed in Lakehurst Elm. Our child went there PrK-1st. We sent her to a private school for 2nd grade. Education, safety, and parent involvement was VERY low our 3 school years of experience with Lakehurst. As a military family stationed at Lakehurst, my advice to PCSing families is to look into the private schools in the area.

To say I am disappointed with LES is an understatement. the curriculum is terrible, parent teacher communication is basically non-existent and there are serious bullying/disciplinary issues. The administration hasn't a clue as to properly run a school. There is an increase of families in the area pulling out their children and opting for a private education for very good reason.

poorly run, and managed. There hasn't been an actual principal in years, and the anti bullying policies here are an absolute joke.

LES had undergone some leadership changes recently that has caused some disturbances in the functionality of the school. I am happy to see that the current school leaders are dedicated to their students and am hoping to see more good things happening in the near future.

We were very unhappy with our experience, the curriculum and the teaching staff at Lakehurst Elementary. We enrolled our 2 children there when we moved here from another state, After our first year we at Lakehurst we decided to send our children to private school instead. The curriculum left a lot to be desired. The teacher for my eldest son let mediocrity be the standard to strive for. There was no encouragement for students to achieve excellence. I never felt like the teachers honestly cared about the academic career of my children or helping them overcome their challenges. Their was almost zero discipline in the upper grades. The math curriculum was a new program that even my children's teachers didn't like and hoped the school would drop. There appeared to be a high turn over in the upper management and it had me question why. Because of our moves we have been able to experience 5 different elementary schools and this is the only one that pushed us to take on the extreme cost of private schools. Our children are now flourishing at their new private school as compared to our experience at Lakehurst.

I am a student at lakehurst elementary school(LES). Overall it is a good school, the teachers are nice and try to meet the needs of their students. Most students get along very well, but few students are picked on. In a case where a child is picked on or bullied teachers take immediant action, for it is untollerable. I personally like our math and languarge art classes(im in the middle school). Our teachers are fun and try to be very interactive with students. LES has K-8 and has 4 main specials, Art, Gym, Music, and Spanish. The food in the cafateria is fine, they take into appreciation children with allergies, and sell a small collection of snacks. Students who misbehave get punishments such as Detention or Suspension. Their is a Parent Teacher Association(PTA) which takes care of finances and assemblies. Assemblies are manly educational and are interactive so students have fun. Their also occasional afterschool dances, or get togethers. We have afterschool sports such as Soccer, Basketball, and Track(the administration is planning on adding more sports). LES also follows the ciriculum very well. I believe we could improve the heating, they had done some fixing but it didnt help.

My daughter has enjoyed all her teachers here at Lakehurst. I also thought they were very helpful. The Child Study team is great.

I feel Lakehurst Elementary has done well with my children thus far. My only complaint is they do not give advanced children enough to keep them busy. I had asked for my daughter to be assessed to move up a grade and was blown off. Of course, this maybe a state level issue therefore I don't hold the school accountable except for the fact they could have communicated that to me. Halfway through the year she became bored and uninterested in school. This would be a great school if your child performs at the average level.
