When we moved here, the only criterion we looked at was the school. We thought it was a good school in our research, but our experience was not pleasant at all. My daughter started Kindergarten when she was 5 years old. Our expectation was to provide learning with more activities, but instead of teaching her to write like a robot, instead of teaching by holding her hand, she learns by writing the words written on the board or on the monitor by herself. She once broke 2 points on a math test for spelling his name ugly!. No teacher-parent communication! Even when you ask about your child's condition, a forced answer is given after a few days! I would have preferred my 5 year old to come with painted hands! they want them to be silent robots and when they talk to their friends they threaten to go to the "manager's office". I had to say my daughter to tell her that if the teacher ever says that to you again, your mom will come to school and show that the principal is not a monster! My daughter is successful, but not because of the teacher or the school, because we were tutoring her when she came home! also if you are very rich this school is for you! I think they are more interested in your pocket than your child's talent or success. school sucks in terms of social space! Communication is terrible! horrible experience!

This school has been a very bad experience for our child. Over the last year, our child was becoming increasingly anxious, unhappy, etc, because of how he was treated. As bad as this Covid19 thing has been, it at least has been good for our child. After not having to go back to that school for the last 2 months, he is returning to his old, happy self.

We have found the principal (Dr. Gooch) to prioritize enhancing her own image with the district above providing an environment for students to thrive. Our son needs extra help and we've scheduled meetings with Dr. Gooch. All she has done is deflect the schools responsibility in providing a helpful game plan. In fact, her best suggestions were on how we could be better parents. Both my wife and I are college educated and my wife's full-time job is raising our children. Time for Dr. Gooch to step up....or step out!

The entire staff is rude and not very approachable. The teacher seems more concerned with how big your wallet is rather then my child's name. Instead of telling us about the important things we are asked to donate to her personal scrapbook fund. I've never been this displeased with a school before.

We love this school....our children do too. We can't say enough about how happy we are that our kids attend this school. PTA is excellent and committed. Our children especially love the new person who is monitoring the cafeteria this year.

We were rezoned into this school this year, and have been extremely disappointed considering all of the great reviews this school receives. The level of academic expectation and encouragement/enrichment is WELL below other schools in the area. Our children have had a very difficult time this year, and the teachers have been rude, condescending, and unhelpful. Teachers seem to have a sense of entitlement when it comes to class donations (I have been asked for Bed, Bath, and Beyond hand sanitizer, a specific brand of pencils ONLY, with anything else being returned home, etc...). I even had one teacher send out an email requesting what she would and would not specifically like as gifts from he children for a holiday event. I think the lack of diversity, along with the extreme affluence of the area lead to a very condescending and entitled attitude from many of the staff and parents. The PTA seems great, but they also love to let people know who they are, what they are doing, and what pretty shirts they bought to coordinate for each event. Volunteering feels more like social/marketing hour than time to help the children. We are hoping for a better option for our kids next year!

To the hateful persons post on February 11, 2014. This is the girl with short blonde hair in the front office that you seem to hate. I always try to do my best, but I guess I can' t please everyone. Since I know who you are, I apologize for any actions on my part that made you feel this way.

heathrow elementary has been a blessing for our 7 year old. The teachers have been very patient with an over active ,but lovable little girl. She would like to have her first grade teacher Ms. Berryhill again.

If you have a "perfect" child, this is the place for you! Any type of learning disability, ADHD, etc. is not ideal in this environment. I removed my son this year. He is attending a different "out of zone" school in Lake Mary. Wow! What a huge difference. He was 2 years behind simply due to Heathrow's failure to identify and implement a plan .He is happy and thriving. The front office staff and several faculty members at Heathrow are great. However, Administration is lacking...to say the very least. The former principal is missed. The facility is old and unsanitary. My child held his urine to avoid the student bathrooms. This is not "a public school with a private school education." There is very little diversity. If your child does attend Heathrow and is struggling ,don't be afraid to serve as their advocate! Otherwise, even if you manage to ask for assistance it will take approximately 1-2 years to receive the assistance you need (IEP, ESE instruction) Educate yourself. You will need it.

We moved into the area in July and applied to the have our kids attend Heathrow Elem school. The Staff at front office were super, they went the extra mile and even called me back to check some details. Big Thanks.

After reading the reviews of the front office staff being unfriendly and unhelpful I just have to disagree. I think that these dissatisfied reviewers are just folks that were not able to get their way. There are some in the Heathrow area that have the mind set that the "rules don't apply to them". I have always known the office staff to be very helpful and friendly. I feel for the poor ladies in the front office. I have seen them have to take a lot of flack.
