My two boys studied here and they both got incredible education and made lifelong friends.Yes, it is a fact that this community comprises of mostly wealthy families but we have seen so far are just regular kids. DPM prepared our kids well for high school. One of them went to a top 5 college in the nation for his discipline. We are thankful to the wonderful DPM that paved the way for their success.

I had two kids go through DPM. To bad, so sad that folks don’t like quesillidas, restrooms, homework, immature students. Like everything else in life, you get out what you put in. DPM was a great launching pad for high school, and that’s mainly because of great treachers , great curriculum and excellent support staff. My kids did the work and blossomed at DPM, through academics, music, citizenship, strong friendships and sports. Their % on state standardized tests increased substantially while at DPM. The whole experience felt supportive, friendly and safe. Finally, my kids didn’t like the quesadillas either, but I have no idea on what that has to do with getting a top notch education. If you’re planning to move to our wonderful community, make an appointment with the school your child will potentially attend. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. Lake Forest is a great place.Sorry I can’t rate special ed.JCP

My overall experience at the school so far has been ok, but in further detail there are a lot of immature over aged students that are very disrespectful to subs, and assistant teachers. My opinion on the teachers is that they are very hard working and take their jobs seriously, well at least most. The cafeteria ladies are very kind, but the school serves very unhealthy food, like CHIPS, and SODA, and the quesadillas are horrible there more but you get what I mean. I will admit the school respects children with disabilities, but many are teased and abused, the school needs to also reduce these evil students that are bullying and abusing, which shouldn’t happen in a wealthy place like Lake Forest, I do like the set up for the school and how the classrooms are organized, but I really won’t recommend this school in my experience so far, now keep in mind my opinion might change, but for now this is what I have learned about the wealthy and spoiled brats that go to this school.

I am a current student at deerpath middle school, some of the teachers make my learning experience better however some can be strict and overloading on homework. Every week I have a test/quiz which I have to study for. The lunch is absolutely terrible, they have a daily lunch which no one likes, for example today was bean quesadillas which were disgusting. Everyone rushes for all the good food and if you dont get a good spot in life, your stuck with unedible food. The principals change once a year or a couple years. Deerpath is full of good teachers and hard working people, however majority is the opposite. There is an inner circle of moms that basically run the school (pta), if your not in the pta or in the inner circle it is hard for parents to make friends and get to know the school. This school is full of conservatives homophobes who destroy the tampon dispensers and bully all lgbtq kids.

The Boys bathroom is disgusting. The girls bathroom has a door but the boys bathroom has nothing good just a bag of tampons and dispensers. You must go out to recess and are forced out of the lunch room with no choice. What a bad school I do not recommend.

My oldest child had a good education and supportive teachers. My youngest child was bullied so badly she had difficulty in high school. Luckily she had an outstanding counselor who helped her graduate in 3 years with honors and was accepted to University of Il undergrad as well as its Law School. Parents, PLEASE advocate for your children!!!!

DPM isn't the best school ever, but most definitely not the worst either. The school itself is nicely maintained and is clean. It is updated and provide a good workspace. There are things here that you won't find at other middle schools, like the Spark Lab, a place where students can create hands-on like a workshop. The libraries at this school are better than the public library in my opinion. Lunch is provided daily if you don't want to take lunch from home. Every day you can buy a cooked meal called the meal of the day that includes milk. Just be prepared to pay the outrageous prices. $4.25! Are you kidding? Most public schools give free lunches. They don't give many healthy choices either, stacking their shelves high with cookies, gummies, chips, and sodas, which aren't healthy whatsoever. The lunch ladies work very very hard and I am not bashing them at all, I appreciate them a lot. However, the quality of the food is literally ridiculous. It is disgusting and if I was a parent, I wouldn't blame my children for not eating their lunches at school. They look and taste gross, packed high in sodium and saturated fats. Students are given a variety of languages to learn. The teachers are well trained but in my experience, are sometimes harsh and many of the teachers here pick favorites and yell at the people they don't like. I know every student says this, but there is an overload of homework. The average workload a day consists of reading for an hour, 2 pages of math homework, 2 sheets of a language homework, and usually something to do in Social Studies or Science. There is usually one project due for one class at least every week. However, I will say the teachers are trying with the best they have. The best part about this school is its curriculum. It is challenging and is way above other schools. Most students are proficient, and there only have been very few who haven't passed a grade. The worst part about this school is Lake Forest. The students who attend this school come from rich and powerful families that influence the school a lot. Basically a board of about 25 families control this school. The students here are worse, bratty, spoiled, misbehaved children who need a whole lot of discipline. Overall, I say save your money and don't enroll in private school because it's not worth it. I give my experience here a 6.

I would rather have gotten no education whatsoever instead of going here.

and give a lot of trouble to small families that are not rich and are trying to live in a good neighborhood. The do that because the police is right next to them, which are also dirty bad police officers. I lived in Lake Forest for 5 years, and had one child only who's life was destroyed by them. If anyone are planning to move to Lake Forest that have young children and need to know good and ugly I have a story to tell just give me a call 310-880-6919. I am current living in California.

DPM is an outstanding public school. We have lived in LF for approximately 10 years with all three of our children attending DPM. Our kids have been fortunate to have received an outstanding education, including robust sports, arts and music programs. Teachers and administrators have been attentive to our childrens' 504 plan needs, and try to look after the interest of the student above all. DPM is split into grades 5/6 and 7/8 as East and West Campuses where the East and West students are separated. This provides a better (and safer) social environment for the students. I saw some of the negative ratings associated below and feel it's not representative of the opinions of most families and students. I'm sure the incidents of bullying at DPM are no different (or less) than most middle schools. And the positive aspects of this institution by far outweigh any negatives. And most importantly I feel the students attending DPM are well prepared for their entrance into High School.

This is a travesty. The principal is extremely unqualified person and should not be leading this school. She has made several false accusations resulting in the expulsion or suspension of students, and has been taken to court and lost for it. The principal does not deserve to run this school.
