High turnover and lack of leadership has tanked this school's performance and reputation. Teachers and principals alike leave after 1-3 years due to poor working conditions. What has also negatively impacted student performance are long time staff that refuse mentorship from administrators and refuse to change their strategies to achieve new, better results. Sending a child to Midland Elementary means they will either have A. an inexperienced, less-effective teacher or an experienced, but ineffective teacher. Many of the long time staff (largely born in the area, and wary of outsiders) remain only because they find the job "easy" because there is no accountability.Simply put, your child will not learn high level concepts at this school. They will not engage in meaningful learning experiences that challenge them to think critically. Instead, they will be treated to worksheets and videos on a smart board delivered by teachers more concerned about what's happening on Facebook than analyzing student assessment data.

Smart, dedicated, professional, and organized staff. My daughter transferred to this school district and was behind in reading. She received special help for less than half of the school year and is now above grade level in reading! Other parents are involved with their kids and education. I highly recommend Midland schools!
