We moved across the country to have our daughter attend Farragut schools. They are some of best schools in the US and have won awards over the years. She is currently in the fifth grade and is on an IEP. She has received excellent support from school counselors and highly trained special education teachers, participated in extracurricular activities, and learned how to be organized and study. Her grades and test scores have skyrocketed and so has her confidence. The general education teachers have communicated with us frequently about her education and behavior and we have always been heard. We volunteer for several activities at the school and the parents can participate in the classroom for science labs. We are impressed by the quality of teachers here- even the music teachers actually have degrees in music! They have police officers posted around the campus and are strict on regulating visitors. The bus driver is reliable and friendly. I was surprised at how many students are at this school- I am used to schools with only three or four teachers for each grade. But they are so structured with their operations that they make it work! We are continually thankful for the education our daughter is receiving at FIS and do not regret the decision to move here for the schools.

2022 Review: We had an ok experience here. As far as academics and the quality of the staff I feel like FIS was above average. My children stayed motivated and had great relationships with their teachers for the most part. On the downside, this school is incredibly overcrowded and the whole Farragut system seems unable to handle the rapid population increase. It would be very easy for your child to fall through the cracks just due to the sheer number of students, especially if they fall in the middle of the bell curve of grades, activities and sports. The culture at Farragut Schools has changed very quickly over just the last few years as well-we had a frustrating number of incidents of age-inappropriate behavior amongst my kids' peers there. The students here are, as a whole, very social-media influenced. Virtual School for even just a semester was a complete disaster and we experienced some behavior towards one of our children that made us seriously question the staff and resulted in us changing schools. Now that we have experience outside of Farragut schools I feel like our years there overall can only be described as mediocre at best. I would not discount the fact that the GreatSchools rating system here seems very subjective and dated.

First year at this school. 2016/2017. First ever rating a school. Crowded or I feel it is considering where we came from in Florida. Over 20 students per class. Only time I get any communication from my son's 3rd grade teacher is if I initiate it. Because of the classes being overcrowded if your child needs extra attention/help they definitely will not get it and if you need a conference you are going to have to be the one the one to ask for it and be sure to keep up on the grade portal because you will not know anything about grades. Maybe it is just the teacher he got this year but had to get a tutor for outside help. So far I am not impressed.

My son was called by racist slur and forced to give up his seat on the school bus. I report the incidents to the school immediately. NO response at all!The school ignores bullying. They don't care about the kids.

ALL they care about is the TCAP score and fundraising. That is it. They don't care about the student, they don't care about the teachers etc. Most of the teachers are very nice.

I don't know what the parents below are talking about! We just moved here this school year and my son is thriving here...He has met lots of new friends and has an awesome teacher. He said it is easy to make friends here being the new guy. He says--FIS has nice teachers and good, challenging work...He also said the no bullying policy is always emphasized and he has seen NO bullying problems. He also said the principal is very involved. Let's see...the same parent has two children that are being "bullied" at this school....hmmmm. Sounds strange to me...Kids are kids wherever you go...public or private schools...now and when I went to school...I DO NOT believe the principal or teachers at this school would take bullying lightly...My son loves this school and the teachers and staff are wonderful...Kids need to learn how to handle "bullying...which is a word too widely used" and parents can't rely on the schools to solve all their problems if they have a kid who stands out for whatever reason...Kids will be kids...So please don't listen to this negative ranting...This is a great school.

This school is one of the worst! I agree with the previous post about not enforcing the no bullying policy! Nothing is ever done! They tell that they cannot tell you what punishment was given because they know they aren't giving one! Then the situation gets worse and worse and worse! I had to call cops in to get anything done! The principal is incompetent and likes to try to smooth things over to get you to stop pursuing the issue! KEEP PURSUING IT AND KEEP PUSHING! I took my child out put her in private school and know I have another going through the same problems at this school and still nothing being done! This school needs new principals and staff completely! If the bulky tells them they didn't do it then "they must not have done it"! Don't move to this area because you heard it was a good school because believe the cover does not always mean its a good book!
