Speaking as a parent of a student in IEP, I cannot speak highly enough about the 8th-grade staff/teachers. They are warm, friendly, approachable, sensitive, and at the same time professional and capable when dealing with my child, and with us. They've been open and available for meetings with little notice. This includes the principle, the teachers, and the counseling staff. I, sincerely, could not be happier with this school.

My daughter is a seventh grader at CMS . Last year i was conerned when we attended orientation. We were pleasantly surprised. Mr. Tillman (band) and Mrs. Banker(social studies) are the best. As for not knowing how your child is doing. ..They have a grade portal and email. I have found Mrs Rose and Mrs Brackett to be responsive . Sometimes parents want to complain instead of putting in the investment.

I am the parent of a rising 8th grader. Overall we have had great experiences with this school. All of the teachers we have had were good with some of them being exceptional. I will agree that the communication is sometimes lacking however keep in mind this is middle school not elementary school and the students are held to a higher level of responsibility. My daughter blossomed at this school. She did have a sub last year for geography because her main teacher was on maternity leave that assigned a lot of busy work. But, it was only for 6 or 8 weeks. The teachers assigned little homework that was busy work . I love that most of the assignments allowed for learning along with creativity .

This is my child's first year at CMS and I haven't received any update on how he is doing in his classes except progress reports. I have sent numerous letters for meetings and i never get a response. I have requested my son bring his books home but some they don't have enough books for all the students and others he has to ask permission to bring home. Then on top of that he has homework on the internet. I had removed it from my home due to the trash on it but i had to reconnect it just so my son could do his homework. They say public school is free? He also received a letter saying that he was obese and i asked him about gym at school and he said that he does exercises at school and he told me everything he did. I started exercises at home to reinforce these exercises at school and i realized he didn't even know how to do a PUSHUP! He said the PE teacher said as long as he could go up and down that was good enough? NO WONDER OUR KIDS ARE GETTING NOTES HOME THEY ARE OBESE! These exercises they are doing aren't helping because they aren't doing them correctly. I was very upset so now i have taken it upon myself to teach him regular exercises.
