Visited this school and was unable to get anything accomplished upon me trying to enroll my child at this school. The staff is extremely unhelpful.

Excellent School, my 2 girls are very excited every morning to go to school. Great communication from teachers, follow up and responsiveness.

I've noticed this school has some problems that need to be addressed. The teachers and the after-school care supervisors have little-to-no authority, so they can not tell anyone "no", even if there is inappropriate behavior going on. Young children are subject to inappropriate behavior from older children because immediate intervention is not allowed by teachers or supervisors. The bathrooms are all ages, with an older kid able to use the bathroom at the same time as a kindergartener with no adult chaperones allowed. I would be very careful and think twice before enrolling your child (especially younger, innocent children) in this school.

Obscene books are allowed in the school library available to all children.

The teachers and staff are excellent however communication from the school is the worst I have ever experienced!!! I say this because all the teachers and school staff use a system called Jupiter for all emails & communications. It is blog based and is blocked by military (Navy & JIATFS) networks. Normally I would not complain about this BUT since this school is located on a military base it shows that the school does not understand its customers needs. Since Sigsbee doesn't send home paper copies of communications (permission forms, flyers, etc), parents like myself can't access any of the school communications resulting in my son missing events and school trips. Honestly, if I could figure out what the heck is going on at the school and gets some preliminary notice of upcoming events my review would be Great. But right now, 6mo into the year, the overall experience has been terrible!

My daughter has attended Sigsbee school for some time it took there about two years of me telling them that there is something wrong to finally test her for IEP plan. Now that she has it, it's not being implemented. So it's like closed circle. There isn't much support from teachers at all. I would avoid this school.

Sigsbee is spectacular! Considering the quality of our public school system in Key West, we were only interested in Montessori and Sigsbee Charter, Sigsbee being our first choice. We were absolutely thrilled when our daughter was accepted her Kindergarten year! Because we're civilains, we knew we weren't guaranteed a spot. Sigsbee uses such a individualized approach, and our daughter is excelling and learning new concepts so quickly and thoroughly, because she's able to learn to her own pace. There are so many resources for parents, in regards to helping your child learn and do the best they possibly can. They're very STEM focused and use our unique location and ecosystem to engage kids in marine science from the very beginning. The teachers and support staff are great, we couldn't be happier!

This school is not as good as people say. If we ever get stationed there again, We'll be using public school instead.

Teachers and Staff truely care about the children. This a school that focuses on Marine Science as it is in the Keys right on the water. The school is well looked after by the staff, parents, community, and Military (eventhough it is not a DOD school). The mission of Sigsbee Charter School is to teach the boys and girls to learn and make smart choices. You will find an unhappy parent if you really look but that is true in every school..if you look at what the negative comment below says you can read between the lines to see that the problem is not the Teacher. Kids have to have bounderies and it is not fair to the other students in the class if the teacher only focuses on one child because they wont be active in the class..with the class. I would also like to point out that this is a charter school...the parent CHOOSES to go here. All you have to do is spend an hour or so at the school to see this is an important stop in your childs learning carreer. Side note this is a K-8 school and includes a VPK program on site.

Sigsbee Charter School is a dimond in the rough! The K and 1st grade programs are FANTSTIC! I have worked with teachers in these grade levels and can report that they are consummate professionals- skilled at their craft. Only in it's second year of being open Sigsbee has set themselves apart from it's peer schools. The faculty works diligently to research and develop curriculum that is cutting edge. They work to secure grants and bring PROFESSINALS in the field of education to their faculty to provide trainning in the most up to date methods of teaching. WONDERFUL!

We are very disappointed with this school. I was very excited for my little boy(5) to start school here initally. We have a very energetic little boy. He needs activities to keep his focus. Otherwise he gets into trouble because he's bored. She is at a point with him that she is no longer interested in helping him to excel. She has isolated him in a seat all alone and just sends his work home to complete. So, this school is nothing to get excited over. Maybe it's just his teacher. I'm really not sure but it's not a good situation for my son.
