I went to Kannapolis Middle from 6-8th grade( through 2021-2024) and my experience was not the best, teachers blame kids for everything they don’t even let the students explain themselves most of the time and the principals and counselors are even worse. In the sixth grade building, there was a counselor who seemed cool she would try to befriend you and everything then she would go behind your back and tell teachers things you would say and do after telling you she wouldn’t/ didn’t care what you did. Lastly, I say the principals aren’t any better because when you get in trouble half of the time it’s either dumb, not your fault or when you tried to explain yourself to them they would just simply not listen. I had this one incident where I was getting bullied on camera and went off on the student who bullied me and the principal suspended me for being “disruptive” and not the other student.Overall some teachers do try to help even though it is only a few of them while others just don’t care at all. This is my middle school experience here and I hope it was not the same for others :).

Yeah, I’ll be honest; this school is horrible. The students behavior is astronomical and shocking. And they’re blatantly disrespectful everyday! And some students even are even disrespected and bullied; NOTHING gets done. They lack proper discipline and it’s very frustrating to see especially from an eyes of a student yourself. You cannot enjoy anything in this school and it’s exhausting and overwhelming to deal with chaos and rude kids everyday being a teacher and a student. The worse part is it seems the staff doesn’t seem to care or take action about this at all! Despite the amount of complaints they get. It’s sad and It’s outrageous. Parents, if you think of enrolling your kids here, think hard about your decision.-PJ

Horrible experience here with my child! Bullied the entire time she was there … and no one would help us! If I could give a minus 5 I would. They don’t even deserve a one!

Kannapolis Middle is an excellent school. Our child has consistantly performed at a very high level with her academics, she is an AIG student. The AIG program is fantastic, both Mrs. Hatley and Mrs. Newell have done an amazing job with the AIG students, I cannot say enough about them. With regards to her regular classes, we have generally been very pleased. We were particulary impressed with a 7th grade social studies teacher, Mrs. Elvington. We felt she conducted her class in an exceptional manner, very engaging with great use of various technologies. From our experience we would give this school very high marks, especially the AIG program. Something else worth mentioning, a couple of years ago this school received an award from the Governor for incorporating digitial technology in the classroom.

Our daughter is currently in the 8th grade at KMS. Both my wife and I have been very pleased with the level of education at this school. The AIG program is outstanding, the teachers strive for the students to reach their full potential. The administration and teachers have exceeded our expectations, the facilities are also fexcellent. This school was recognized by the governor in 2012 for the use of digital technology.
