We absolutely love Providence Academy! After touring the school and listening to all the parent podcasts about the school we were all in! Our kids have loved it and adjusted well from public school. The teachers are phenomenal and truly love their jobs and love the kids so well. The administrative staff are incredible and we have been very impressed how well they run the school and communicate with the parents. We love how established the school (30 years) is with full time security and offers extra circular activities in addition to the amazing classical Christian education they provide. The school culture is positive, uplifting and fun! The teachers really come along side the parents to help us raise our kids in the Lord and hold them to high standards.

We feel like you couldn't find a better school in East Tennessee or anywhere. Our children are loved and cared for and have so many opportunities. The school feels like a community, and we're so thankful to be a part of it. The academics are strong and after school activities are diverse.

After enrolling in school, LGBT students are welcomed, supported, and protected. They are allowed to remain at the school and to live out their beliefs in front of the other students.With the exception of math, Middle school education is very poor. Very little to no writing in English and students are only taught part of the class period then allowed to have free time. Other classes do not follow the curriculum at all and very little instruction or assignments are given. Even mediocre students are given high honors at the end of the year.Disruptive kids are praised and allowed to continue their behavior.If a parent brings an issue to the administration, especially, the head of school, board, and principal, then the parents are admonished and their kids are punished.Drugs are part of the school. Last year, over 20 secondary students were punished for using drugs within the school. However, administration pretends this doesn't exist.

Providence Academy has an excellent staff of caring and qualified teachers who pour into their students. We have been pleased with our children's academic and personal growth at PA. They have all enjoyed participation in the variety of extracurricular activities available to students.

As a parent, I would give the school 4 stars. We are imperfect beings in an imperfect world, but I truly believe that Providence does its best to educate our children. They are the best school that our children could have attended.

Amazing school with informed leadership. School administrators and teachers are devoted to providing a rigorous yet thorough education that is well above average standards. Only downside are rich snobby stay at home moms who complain all the time.

There is a large clique of mean, snobby girls at this school! My daughter is being bullied by these girls every single day. She cries almost every day and is stressed out. We have talked to teachers and admin and it seems as if they don't really have a clue how to make it stop. Their hands are tied because the parents of these girls are very wealthy and they make large donations, or have multiple children there. One of the moms works at the school. I guess our $640 per month is not a drop in the bucket for them. Our daughter is a Christian and she refuses to be mean back to them, so she gets mentally abused and humiliated every single day. The teachers and admin have admitted that my daughters class(the girls) are a problem. If you are looking to enroll your daughter here for the wonderful Christian atmosphere and the ability to make great friends.....I would think again.

We have many years of experience with Providence; both elementary and secondary school. PA is a very safe place to send your child. No need for locks on lockers here. The majority of the teachers are caring and reasonable. All the ones we have had experience with (which is most) seem to live out their faith in Christ. Teachers do seem to promote the children who are quiet, meek, good performers and fit into that nice, tidy educational box. Being a smaller school, those children who are above average students do well. Those who are average or below are known in their classes and by parents. It's a small school. Some have experienced significant inferiority and insecurity because they feel "stupid" for making C's. Find out about the Knight Award or Service award... the quiet, meek, and academic kids are held in high esteem. Perhaps a refresher should be given on the life of Peter, James, or John... these men were loved by Jesus. The administration seems to be reactionary rather than proactive, even haughty when respectful questions are asked or edifying suggestions are given. There is no forum for parents to voice concerns or offer suggestions. We came to the conclusion most of the negatives to PA could be tied to the rule that all faculty are required to send their children to Providence (or homeschool them). The PA Board is hand-selected by the principal. A large percentage of the employees are related. Look up nepotism and see for yourself. Documentaries of how horrible public schools have become have been shown at PA with invitations to parents and guests. If you, as the parent, serve on a school committee or board choose to send one of your children to public school (regardless if other kids are still attending PA), you are asked to step down from any board or committee responsibilities. Athletics: most of the coaches have very little athletic experience outside small high schools. Dads, spouses, and non-athletic teachers coach most of the sports. This is a non-sanctioned school and administration will not entertain affiliation with TSSAA. Donations have been turned down for stadium seating and field lights. There's no weight room. It is a step above Upward athletics. If you have a child who has been gifted athletically, he or she may become frustrated. Parents definitely will be. Again, no forum for healthy and respectful concerns.

My child has attended Providence Academy for several years. I have know of a bullying incident where the school turned their heads and pretended nothing was going on. The administration doesn't live in reality neither do the teachers. They also allow parents on campus ALL day every day distracting from the children learning. The students are also treated like small toddlers. There are not many opportunities for your child if you want them to play sports. It's my experience that some administration in the school are hypocrites. They allow some students to show up late to school every day without receiving a tardy slip and others receive slips, depending on who your parents are and how much money they donate to the school. It's no wonder their graduating class is less than 15 students. The children have homework on the weekends in Kindergarten and 4-5 hours of homework in middle school. I won't even mention how many hours a night we spend on homework in high-school. If you want your child to grow not only spiritually but SOCIALLY, CREATIVELY, & have a sense of 'the real world' when they graduate, send them to the Johnson City School System. Believe me, they will be better off!

If you are seeking a strong Christian foundation as well as superior college preparatory academics in a school, look no further than Providence Academy. After spending all of middle and high school as a student here, I can most certainly say that Providence stands out among all other schools, both public and private. With a focus on Classical Education, Providence teaches students how to think critically, rather than what to think, and provides a thorough background for logic and rhetoric skills that any successful intellectual must possess. Providence's most important advantage, however, is its commitment towards providing students a quality education in Christian doctrine, theology, and principle. A school full of God-fearing faculty dedicated to their students, Providence will provide a willing learner with all the necessary tools for a success, both spiritually and intellectually. I cannot express enough how much this school has done for me and my classmates in helping us grow and mature as youth should, not distracted by the petty, fleeting things of this world, but focused on what God's greater plan is for His children.

Providence Academy is a great Christian school. They really incorporate Biblical lessons all throughout the classes. So I appreciate PA for that, but their are downsides. At PA the teachers have much trouble controlling the class. The students are very rowdy and EXTREMELY rude and mean to one another. The students treat each other like siblings, I guess you could say. Their is much bullying which there is no punishment for. The kids are always yelling and talking when the teachers are trying to teach, so it's hard to learn. No punishment is dealt for anything, which is a giant problem. Also, there is so much homework it's absolutely horrifying (hours of HW and studying per night). PA is a very hard school to make good grades at. The kids are either making all A's or literally failing. PA teaches through a classical education which includes grammar, logic, and rhetoric. This involves memorizing speeches, Bible verses, writing debates, and reports constantly. Basically, PA is just for a certain type of people. SOO GOOD THINGS: Biblical School Small school (no drugs!) BAD THINGS: Bullying No Punishment Lots of HW Disruptive Classmates
