I do not recommend this school. Student demographics pull from a very economically disadvantage/transient area. I question if Great Schools has up to date information. Teachers have to manage very chaotic behaviors at this school. My 1st grade child had students call the teacher curse words, had to endure foul mouthed language sometimes directed at her. A child routinely soiled himself at school. Front desk did not care about parental concern. It was so glad we moved to another district. Parents use your gut when you see a pawn shop, discount grocer and check cashing business nearby --- I wish I had.

This school was a great environment for learning. The teachers and staff nurtured my kids for the last 7 years. I was quick to let everyone know how much of a hidden gem Northside was. However, this past year has been a complete reversal. I did not realize how much a change of leadership could impact an entire school. The past principal was focused on the kids overall well being, the new principal only cares about standardized test scores. The entire vibe of the school has changed. Teachers and staff once pulled their kids into the school from the higher performing elementary s they were zoned for. Teachers and staff wanted to work at Northside. Now they are trying to leave as fast as they can. Teachers that live in other zones but work at Northside are no longer transferring their kids to Northside. It is sad. The parents that can afford other options are seeking them. This school that was once so special is now being destroyed from within.

I cannot say enough positive things about the administration, staff, and teachers at North Side Elementary. My son found a home there and his teacher has been instrumental in his little successes whereas before he struggled daily. Everyone is so kind, so supportive, and always looking out for the kids. This is what a school should be- a community focused not just on learning but on creating relationships in a positive environment.

We love North Side! The teachers, staff, and Principal actually care about the students at North Side. It is a school that stresses the importance of community and family involvement. North Side is the only school that I know of in this area with a state of the art Outdoor Classroom to incorporate nature into learning. North Side is home to children of all economic levels and each one is treated equally. My kindergartner is even learning Chinese in school!! I am so happy that I listened to my husband (North Side alumni) and decided to give North Side a chance in PreK, we're still here in K and we couldn't be more pleased!!
