The district's reputation has progressed from excellent to best. Most reviews reflect parents who value academics. A select few expect the schools to raise their children. If you're one of those parents, then this school is not for you. The district has veered off course slightly with some mandated SEL (which this website and the state pushes) and some ideological intrusion in the high school (corroborated with input from another parent). My daughter's class holds meetings where teachers untrained in therapy encourage kids to reveal personal information to the class. Thankfully we have no family drama, but my daughter has shared with me private ancectodotes about classmates whose parents might not be happy to learn that their kids are revealing. Hopefully the school will course correct. Overall, I am happy with Jericho's continued commitment to academic learning.

Been in this district for 10+ years and the past 2 have been horrible. New principles in multiple school placed by the Superintendent and the BOE are also placed by the Teachers Union and Superintendent so there is no checks and balances. It's profiling, discrimination and bullying at it's finest.

This school’s reputation for being one of the “best” schools in the nation is a bit of smoke and mirrors. The majority of the students go to outside tutoring institutions after school and in the summer, learning curriculums before they are taught at the school. Test scores are not necessarily representative of teachers. As a parent you will be expected to pay for tutors if you child can’t keep up. There is very little support for students that are not high level. The school is a very intense competitive environment. Not a very nurturing environment. If all you care about is academic achievements for your child then this is a great school for you. If you are looking to have a well rounded kid skip!

Choosing this school district for my 2 sons is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My kids are happy, successful and is surrounded by a group of kids who share similar goals.

I've had three children attend this school with one graduating just last year. Each of them got out of the school what they put into it. My oldest excelled and left with more than 30 college credits and a great group of long time friends. My middle child took the Engineering tract and entered an engineering program very much ahead of his peers. My youngest did not enjoy school as a freshman (not because of the school, it would have been any school) but the educators and staff were somehow able to ignite a spark in him as a sophmore that continues to this day in his college career. My family moved to this town because of the reputation of this school and we have never regretted that decision. I can't say enough about the education my children received here.

There's so much bad to say about Jericho High School. I attended this school over a decade ago because, like 99% of the other students there, I grew up in a life of privilege. I attended a great university and I work as a software engineer and I love my job. That being said, I attribute almost none of it to JHS other than the fact that it got me into college. Grade inflation is a huge problem at this school. If you don't do well enough in your classes, they send you to the "learning center" which was basically just teachers sitting with you while you took exams so they could help you with the answers. Parents routinely came into the school to yell at teachers, who were more afraid of the students and their parents than not sufficiently educating children and so pushy parents would guarantee their children received straight As. Just a joke in so many ways. That said, if you want your child to succeed in life then honestly going to this school is probably not a terrible thing. They'll have a good chance of going to a great university and doing great things in their lives. They just won't learn anything of value while they're in HS.

I received a fantastic education, made lifelong friendships, and learned from fantastic, caring teachers. I loved JHS and its culture of taking education seriously while supporting students at all phases of their lives.

The new principal Rosenberg is a real b****. She has no interest in helping students or parents, no integrity, no skills, rude and arrogant. She managed to have the previous principal kicked out and got his job. In case you wonder how she did it? Her mother was on the district's education board. So go figure. It's only a matter of time that this high school will go down the drain under her leadership, sadly.

I graduated from JHS in the early 90s. Jericho was ranked #1 in the state and in the top 20 nationally. I excelled as an athlete but was a solid B student. I did go to college with 18 college credits and felt very prepared when going to class. I earned my B average and worked at it. Jericho teachers helped in every possible way. School just life is what you make of it. If you put in effort, you get rewarded. The diverse courses are great and the teachers do care and are engaged. They never went "through the motions." Yes there was always a bad teacher, but that makes you appreciate the better ones. Drivers Ed, dissecting cats, etc. this was a top notch education. I earn a 7 figure income and owe a lot of the life lessons to JHS. It's a great place and the taxes are well worth it. Every school has clicks. Significant wealth exists here and it spills into the school and students. Being wealthy isn't a bad thing (unless you are Bernie Sanders)-let's be real folks-you want your children around successful people. Raise your children with good values and they can see through the materialistic BS. Amazing district and anyone would be lucky to go here.

Mr. Prisinzano is an effective, concerned principal who works constantly to enhance the educational goals and opportunities for the students at Jericho High School. He and his staff provide a safe, encouraging environment to foster students' success.

This school and in fact the entire district is highly overrated. The administration and the staff are not doing anything more or better than any average school. They barely do the minimal. They are not interested in listening to parents or involve parents in any decisions or processes. The high test scores and student achievements that earned the high rankings for the school are in no way a reflection on the teacher's quality or effort. It's the wealthy and education mindful parents that send their kids to all sorts of tutoring schools and expensive camps all over the country that explains. Just look at the student ethnic profiles. Yet the school just stands to reap the benefits with no shame (just google the school teacher salary database to find out their ridiculously high pay). Don't be mislead by the rankings.
