Several kids in my family have gone to this school. I will say that 2023 I noticed a drastic change for the worse.

Moved my son to Jasper Middle this year from Cherokee County and he has had the best experience ever. He no longer begs not to go to school. The teachers are very communicative and foster an environment for all learners.

We moved into Pickens Co. in 2014 and my son started Jasper Middle School in 2015 after coming out of being homeschooled & previously in Douglas Co. schools. He has done very well at JMS with an A/B average! I feel that (for the most part) the teachers are doing a GREAT job! It is an older school, but I have heard talk of renovations in the near future!! Also, I would like to comment that my son has hardly had much homework at all here, which in our lives (that are VERY busy) is a PLUS! We LOVE Pickens & are SUPER happy to be in a small 'country' town! Hill City is a wonderful school as well!! ;)

My son is a special needs student at JMS and we love this school! The teachers really care about their students sucess and so do the staff. We did live in a larger county and our son was just a number, he was over-looked. He is a n honor-roll student and involved in clubs and has made friends too. The kids don't care if your rich, poor, what kind of house you live in or what you drive. Yes EVERYONE knows EVERYONE - keeps us all in check and this is a hospitable area with loving caring people.

My daughter started 6th grade this year and she hates the school. She either has to carry all her books or leave them in her locker, they are not allowed backpacks in the classroom....the teachers say they get in the way. There is no a/c in the gym and they had to run like 30 minutes at the beginning of school in the heat. The rest of the school is hot all the time except for the office which is nice and cool. The kids constantly pick on her for being 'country'. ? This is country, its pickens county!!!We are selling our house and moving at the end of the year, between this school and 4 yrs of Harmony Elementary we have had enough of Pickens County!!!!
