This is supposed to be the "academic" school for middle schoolers. In my opinion, this is an average, maybe even below average school. I am an involved parent with my son, and strive to show him it is important to do well in school. I can't say the teachers at this school are striving to do the same. I was hopeful it would be a good enough option to keep my son out of private school, but it has made me seriously consider it.

I would rate my experience as sub par.

Academic Academy is a good concept, but the curriculum is extremely heavy and most students are given up to three hours of homework per night in order to excel. There are no textbooks. Everything is expected to be done with students taking the notes, and if they take poor notes, they miss out on information.

Northeast Middle school has been extremely sub-par in the last few years, but this year there has been the addition of The Academic Academy. It is a school within a school at Northeast Middle, and it has drawn the greatest young minds in the system. This addition has significantly changed the environment and academic excellence at the school. It also has a wonderful new principal ,and we owe much of the school's current success to her.

this school was showen to have a teacher to student ratio of 15... My daughter has no less that 25 in all 6 classes so just how many teachers are teaching and how many are just there for a head count.
