I am so thankful my children attend Brywood. This school and staff truly care about the wellbeing of the students. The principal is caring and always listens to parents and students. Our kids are very happy at this school and love their teachers.

IUSD is a horrible district. I don’t know people believe it’s a great district. The city is great, but the school district.. not great. The two ladies at the front are horrible. Sandra treats your children like garbage. She yells at them with attitude instead of speaking to them normal. Leslie, depending on her mood that is how she will treat others. I don’t know how the district or the school allow these individuals to work with children. The principal downplays issues. He doesn’t know how to resolve problem and wants to shoo you away. Obviously, nobody here will get fired no matter how much you address issues. The teaches are trained to be just the same as the staff.

The iusd is horrible. People talk about how Irvine has a great school district. They don’t. The principal doesn’t do the max. The teachers are all new. They don’t know how to manage their classroom. The students are horrible. The ones that get 100% off every test get better treatment, even though they have behavior issues. Major ones. It was a mistake coming to IUSD thinking it was a great district.

I am rating this school a 1 star. My son is an special education and this school yr there has been a change with the staff. New principle and new teacher. Since these changes, there has been a HUGE lack of communication from the school. My son's new teacher has been absentee for a couple. The school didn't notify the parents until the second week! Prior to this the teacher has been none communitive. No work was ever been sent home. Even after I've communicated that I would like homework to be sent and asked what the curriculum will be since it's a combo of 1st and 2nd grade. From the feed back that I got from the other parents, speech therapy hasn't started for their kiddos. Just been a horrible experience!

APAAS teacher is not focusing on academics at all ---- if reference of some online resources or sliding shows of copy/paste only can be called teaching. However the teacher seems zealous for 'behavior management' of students, no matter in classroom, recess, homework time, lunch break etc. Any minor behavior discordance with her perception as 'normal' is regarded as rudeness or abnormal.

The APAAS teacher is a loon. She gives preferential treatment for those she calls the "underdogs" who are selected based on her arbitrary qualifiers. She refers to high achieving students as her, "nerds." She wore a crown to the students graduation one year as if it was about her. Not all Irvine schools are equal and teachers can make all the difference.

Poor. Management needs to have better understanding of what is going on in the classrooms and take appropriate actions to ensure fairness and safety of students are not compromised.

Horrible experience at this school. Rude aggressive administration and teacher's. Leadership does nothing about concerns. Teachers are not teaching but trying to label as many students as they can. Negative and chaotic atmosphere. Poor class management. Horrible communication with parents.

We appreciate the hard working teachers but the incredibly rude office clerks have to go. No office clerk should be allowed to yell at a student or the parent and give them dirty looks. Wow, I am speechless as the principal was right there next to us. Can't believe their unprofessional behavior is condoned - reflects quite negatively on the school and its management. Avoid this school at all cost. There are fabulous schools nearby this one.

Both my kids attended this school and they liked most of the teachers there. Even the K teacher that was known to be tough, my kids liked her and learnt a lot from her. Why do I rate it 2 stars? It was going well until they got this new principal. She is horrible and i hope you will never had to deal with her. Even the kids noticed the huge difference, not good difference since she joined. They often said they missed ms Aromoso And wished she were still there. the new principal is cluless of what's happening in the school, her approach of dealing with problems is to deny they happen to get rid of it. her decision and policies are based on how to control the kids for so she doesnt have to deal with them, not at their best interest

This is the worst school ever!!! The principle, assistant, school councilor, school rep, and wicked witch kinder teacher who needs to retire. They told my child she was slow they called her a baby to my face and they threatened me with child services if I didn't agree with What they said. They did not let my child interact with the other child. Anytime I would try to ask questions every single person I spoke too would stumble over their words, they would not have an answer. They need to shut this school down.

The school may be good but the basic foundation of Kinder is flawed. Teaching wrong values to Kids. Kids are taught to live in fear and not be themselves. Com'on they are Kinders...they are to be dealt accordingly. If teacher is complaining about most of the student, one can imagine how the teacher will be. I will not put any names but rising the kids are raised in wrong environment. No compassion, no smile...I am surprised how a Kinder teacher could be like that. Its not that funds are not available...certainly can hire a lot better teacher to build the foundation of a student. Kids are in constant fear......

I can't believe people are going to rate an entire school,on one office person. If you have a problem with a staff member contact the principal. The point of a review is to let caring parents know how the school as a whole rates. I think the school is great. It's a public school with great teachers and a string PTA.

Parents, every school/teacher is different. Brywood is an excellent school. My son attended K, 1st and now is in 2nd grade here. He has had great teachers! When you read negative reviews remember that every school has grumpy parents too. As a parent, we must work with our kids to help them work towards their potential. Brywood is a wonderful school.

Just wanted to second the a parents review that the front office lady is STRAIGHT RUDE and UNFRIENDLY. I am a single working mother. I pick up my son during my lunch. It is very hard to pick up kids when you cannot depend on teachers to release children on time and when your a few minutes late that the lady at the front is so SNOBBY that she give you a judgemental look. She is the first person to represent the school they should really take a look at her professionalism and how it affects the parents.

If you are looking for Kindergarten teachers who don't care about your child or his/her needs, then this is the school for you. One of the Kinder teachers really needs to retire and the kids say she is mean - she never smiles and doesn't want to be inconvenienced with any communication or needs you or your child may have. The other Kinder teacher is a minimal effort kind of person, uncompassionate, disorganized, poor with her communication, and very mistake prone. My neighbors warned us about the Kinder teachers and told us to go to another school for Kinder and then transfer there for 1st grade. We should have listened to them. The Principal is leaving so you won't have to deal with her. She supported the teachers in whatever they wanted to do, even when it was totally inappropriate or not in the best interest of the child. One of my neighbors said it well of the Principal, "she doesn't manage her staff, they manage her". We are disappointed that this is what we got for the solid reputation of an "Irvine school".

This is my second child that has started school at brywood, and I must say it is just as bad this time around. My son hates going to school and cry's everytime. The kindergarten teacher that both my kids have and had needs to find a different kind of occupation. Very unhappy with the pick up the parking the times. Went for the first time to eat lunch with my child and to do so u have to sign child out. Can not eat lunch on campus. I cant wait to move schools.

I am very disappointed. The front office lady is very grumpy and never smiles. The school also asks for money to much.
