I had 3 children go to this school and they all had a great experience and the learning environment was excellent. They all went on to college and advanced degrees. Great teachers in District Five!!

We are so thankful for IES. Our child who faced significant learning challenges is now excelling and performing above grade level. Without the amazing teachers, special learning educators, support staff and leadership at IES, there's no way she would be excelling so well! On top of that, our children have an entire community of family members in the staff and faculty at IES. It's home.

My both kids go the IES and an happy about their progress. However they should bring in more STEM oriented teachers in the school.

My family actually moved out of the district, specifically so that we could get away from this school. The teachers may care, but the administration is absolutely horrible. No one knows what anyone else is doing. My son had an IEP and the administrators didn't even know who was in charge within their own school. And if your child has allergies, forget it, they will give you a hard time about everything!

Irmo Elementary used to be an excellent school. However, reading is now taught with almost no emphasis on phonics. The number of kids in "reading recovery" is skyrocketing because of this. The school is very standardized testing focused. This year (2013-2014), many teachers have been forced to teach grades they are unfamiliar with/uncomfortable with after teaching their specific grades for many, many years. Combined with the change to Common Core Standards, I see this school going downhill fast. Our family will be moving and seeking better education elsewhere in the area.
