This school is the worst that my son was. I do not recommend it, they do an incorrect evaluation.

This school makes you pay for a background check (which is perfectly fine) then once it comes back clean they will let you go on field trips and that is all. They even take the kids on field trips without notifying parents (the ones with no volunteers). They also ask for volunteers and then call (today is field day and it rained so they are doing it inside) all the parent volunteers and tell them they don't need them (fine) but when my daughters teacher said she welcomed volunteers and I could, the office told me no. Parents aren't welcome at this school even though they have our children that we are trusting with them. Glad we are leaving this year and tomorrow is the last day. Oh and they segregate all of the special needs and self harm children to my sons teachers class. The other teachers have no special needs students. This is my sons teacher. He only has like 5-10 non special needs children so you can imagine the frustration this teacher shows.

My son has attended John W Luff Elementary since he was 3 years old! We love everything about it! His teachers have been awesome and have always encouraged him to go above and beyond! He is now in the 5th grade and reads at the 12th grade reading level!! WOW!! Graduation this year will be bitter sweet. We will be sad to leave the teachers and school, but what good timing! Toni Kilgore-Mallams, principal, is leaving also. She has been the best! She always makes it a point to say hello, is very friendly, and has known my son belongs to me, since the second day we stepped foot in those doors! How she remembers every student and parent is beyond me! With issues that have risen throughout my son's school years, she has always been fair and reasonable handling them, and kept me informed. I have read some of the other reviews on this page and was baffled how Luff could get a poor review. LION PRIDE!!

The staff at this school are very welcoming and friendly. The principal smiles alot and always speaks kindly. She seems genuine, unlike one certain school on phelps where the principle and some teachers are a total joke and hold grudges against children.

The Pre-K section of the school is staffed with people who are ridiculously unqualified. They are not certified teachers, nor are they more than functionally literate. The principal takes credit for their few successes, and passes the buck on their many, many failures. The lead teacher takes classroom incidents too personally and maintains grudges against children. Documentation of incidents is sporadic and arbitrary, and is not regularly shared with parents. Paperwork disappears, then reappears, then disappears again. Some paperwork sprouts forth miraculously from the ether. Pre-K children are surrounded by toys and games and fun things, but expected to sit quietly on the carpet and focus on stories read in monotone worse than Ferris Bueller's teacher. You will get far superior Pre-K care and enrichment from Chuck E Cheese.

There are 26 students in my daughter's kindergarten class for starters which I think is way to many students for one teacher without any assistance. I also feel the school does a poor job keeping parents informed on what is going on at school. We get a weekly newsletter which doesn't always have the proper dates and/or times and even though we are supposed to get these on Thursdays sometimes they aren't sent home until Friday or Monday and I only get a day or twos notice for special events. They are not very clear on what some of their activities are either. This is my first school age child and they had a notice a few days before curricular night and said they hoped to see me there but didn't mark the time or explain what it was. I had to call the school that Monday to find out details. This school also doesn't seem to want to help my daughter with some of her issues at school. Because she is fine academically they don't want to help with the rest but they keep contacting me to complain about her issues! I feel this school is lacking in some very important areas.

best school and the principle is wonderful. She will listen to the parents and not always listen to the teachers like my principles
