This school is bad. And don't let your child go to this school. Why? It's because there are: bullies, mean teachers, baddies, annoying kids, etc. And jones doesn't do anything about that. And. why does jones allows girls to have their phones out, and get to bring snacks to school while the boys don't??? Jones doesn't help students who were bullied by bullies. And when bullied kids fight back. They get in trouble. But not the bullies???? Soooo. This is a bad school.

Aw man here we go. I was a student at Jones for all 3 years, 6-8 and MAN was it an experience. 6th grade wasn't too bad, since it was roughly around COVID times and half the year was online. COVID had quieted everyone and we were all pretty much re-entering society the 2nd half of the year after being shut up in our homes for such a long time and 6th grade was chill. My teachers were all really nice and the work was engaging. Towards the end of 6th grade though, you could tell some kids were beginning to feel restless and a couple began acting up. Seems like they were finally getting their courage back after the COVID experience. The school sometimes was pretty empty though (in complete contrast to 8th grade), and the halls weren't too crowded (many were still online). Beginning 7th grade, however, it was more chaotic. Most had returned from online classes and now it was MUCH more packed with kids, all messing around and pushing and yelling in the halls. Then it started. The fights, the constant acting up, the disrespect, the teachers getting more riled up and snapping at the students more. All the way from 7th to 8th grade it only went downhill. Oh my gosh there were SO MANY fights! When the first few ones began happening, of course they were interesting and all us curious kids always craned our necks and gathered around to watch, but then eventually they were SO common and happened so often that it was no longer a temporary source of entertainment, but rather a nuisance. I remember that most of the time i'd be angrily trying to shove my way through the massive crowds, upset because my algebra teacher would get mad (speaking of the algebra teacher, he was awful. Always would berate us for everything from asking for help or getting a question wrong. Not sure if name dropping is correct but it's a certain white, short, old bald guy. Everyone hated him.) if we were ever late and we could not afford to have any tardies. We had some major events too. Once, some idiots set a toilet paper roll on fire in the boys bathroom, causing the police and fire department to show up and us to evacuate. We also had a bunch of lockdowns though most were drills, and the threats- Lord the threats. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. A shooting threat, a bomb threat- EVERYTHING. They checked us at metal detectors each day but we all still lived in constant fear. There was a walkout once too, in protest, but it turned into a mass riot involving paramedics and 20+ fights. All madness.

I have two children that attend this school. Although there are some teachers that are an acquired taste, most of the teachers I can say I am pleased to have teach my children. The administration, however, is the most disappointing portion of the whole. Speaking to the secretaries up front is normal of course. Most of the time I am greeted with smiles and willingness to help. The issue is, when there is a serious matter of concern or event, the head of that school, Mr. Torrance Brooks, is the epitome of everything wrong with the school, the district, and the education of the state as a whole. There is so much focus on writing policies that make absolutely no sense for teachers or students. There is lack of understanding and communication towards teachers, student and parents. There is an incredible air of arrogance towards everyone that shows exactly why the student body cannot be what it absolutely CAN be. I will never blame those on the front line and as mentioned before, there are some wonderful teachers here. However, just be mindful that their teaching curriculum and even their method of teaching is very much stifled under what appears to be a dictatorship. Having said this, I have mixed reviews of the school. Great school. An incredibly lousy leader.

This school is so bad literally the worst school ever. I am here and they don't know how to teach, control their kids, etc. The teaching is even worse too. The teachers don't care about the students and they are not patient at all with them. Another problem is that they don't care about situations that happen. I've had many situations in this school and none of them were solved. The day that whatever situation happens, they act like they care and act like they are gonna do something about the situation but forget it and act like nothing happened. That is what I think about this terrible school.

I was a student at jones middle and I would say do not let your child come to this school . Jones does not care about bullies at this school and cares more about who has there phone in there pocket . My sister was bullied multiple times and the school barely did anything to help with the situation and let the child who bullied my sister have zero consequences. Jones also has a lot of disrespect teachers who will cuss in front of students and sometimes mean to students.

Well obviously children won't be safe attending this school if staff members just enjoy watching their students get beat up. There has been many complaints from the students about the safety and environment of this school.

My two nieces, ages 11 and 13 started the 2021-2022 school year at Jones Middle School. They have experienced threats of violence (being chased in the hallway and threats of fights) racial slurs, inappropriate language and conduct by fellow students. They are an ethnic minority in this school and the teachers and administration have not provided a safe, supportive environment conducive to learning. My sister has requested a school transfer and the principal is supposed to be conducting an "investigation" of the bullying. This is not acceptable and not what I want for my nieces. If resent that my taxes are paying for this "reform school" atmosphere and I am angry and disappointed that this kind of student conduct is allowed.
