Many people living in surrounding neighborhoods, such as Meyerland, Bellaire and West University, have been hearing and talking about the extraordinary great Early Childhood program at Pilgrim, there's of course no doubt about it! That's why their classes are filled up fast. However, don't forget about their Grade School program, that is also VERY awesome and academically advanced! Many graduates end up going to prestigious schools such as MIT, Rice Uni, UT...etc. Their grade teachers are equally loving and caring as the Early Childhood teachers, yet they are very talented to instill knowledge and challenge the kids! As a parent, I just LOVE it.

My Daughter started part time Preschool (age 3) there this year. Her teacher is amazing!! My daughter wakes up thrilled to go to school and comes home excited to share everything she has learned that day. The office staff is friendly and very helpful. We have encountered a few glitches (part of being new to any system) and corrections have been made quickly and with smiles.

We have had a great experience with Pilgrim's early childcare program. My kids have been at Pilgrim for 3 years and they have been very happy. In the past few years I've seen my kids grow and develop so much. We've loved all of their teachers and the staff is very nurturing and caring. The new principal and pastor are at the door every morning, greeting the kids and parents. The environment is loving and nurturing and the kids learn through play. It feels like a big family. Pilgrim also allows for a lot of flexibility in the kids' schedules, ie: you can send them to school all day, half day, 2 days, 3 days, and they have before and after school care which is great for parents who need the flexibility. I couldn't be happier with the early childhood experience that my kids have had at Pilgrim.

The teachers are loving and great examples. The staff are friendly and willing to work with you. The church pastor is the spiritual leader for the school so the school is not only committed to giving the students a great education but also teaching them how to be a great person. The principal and pastor are both new and excited to see how the school can grow and strengthen.The educational program within the ECE definitely stands out compared to all in the surrounding area. The K-8 program is gifted and talented certified. Violin is taught to the 1st & 2nd graders as part of the curriculum. The teachers teach a great education rather than how to score well on a test, but still have great test scores on their Iowa Test. The smaller class sizes allow the students the attention they would get in a small town while living in a big city.

The teachers are a great example for the children. They are accessible and supportive. Our new principal has shown to be a great leader and teacher. My daughter has made great progress in her studies since the start of the year.

Pilgrim is a nurturing and supportive environment. My son went to public school only for kinder & I couldn't believe there were 26 kids in his class. At public school it felt like he could not get the attention a young student needed in that setting. At Pilgrim the classes are small & the staff care about his progress and I can communicate with them. We have been very happy and are in our 4th year at Pilgrim. Overall, they do a great job.

2007 to 2013 the principal, Dave Glienke was not approachable. He was not a caring man and apparently he had a unique way to believe juggling teachers around is great for the school. Not for the students and not for stability. Plus was not willing to hear how the first year teachers were being mouthy with the parents and also to the children. Sorry we don't need to pay for that !

I have two children at Pilgrim and we love this school All the teachers are wonderful - very involved with the kids. The academics are strong. The class room sizes are small so everyone receives a lot of attention. In addition, the parents are encouraged to participate and be involved at the school.

I could not be happier with the education of my 2 children at Pilgrim Lutheran School. They both started with Early Childhood Ed. at two. My son graduated & is now a Junior at Strake Jesuit, a very competitive college preparatory school. His Iowa test scores at Pilgrim were exceptional as were others in his class. He was well prepared academically, spiritually & emotionally. His fall PSAT-NMQT scores were in the top 13 scores in his class (210+) & could make him a candidate as a National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalist next year. My daughter is in the 8th grade and her Iowa test scores are equal if not better to my son s. The staff has a great deal of responsibility for my children s success by passionately promoting a loving, Christian & disciplined environment. Overall results of the staff have consistently made Pilgrim students scores one to two grades higher than the Iowa test of basic skills grade equivalency. The music program is strong & participation is encouraged. Spanish is taught early. The athletics programs have given my kids a team ethic as well as physical development & are well supported. Pilgrim is especially good for math and grammar. They have an absolutely fantastic robotics program. Teachers use traditional textbooks and teach skills that the public schools have abandoned (like adding without a calculator). The school has a kind and caring environment. The principal, teachers, and staff are easy to work with and responsive to parent concerns.

My daughter started attending Pilgrim part-time at 18 months. She's is entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2011, and she's going to continue attending Pilgrim! It's a fantastic, loving, Christian environment with outstanding academics. She's already reading, writing, and beginning math in Pre-K! If you live in Meyerland or Bellaire and want the best education for your kids in a caring environment that welcomes your involvement as a parent, you need to send your children to Pilgrim Lutheran School.
