My child is in 4th grade, never gets home work. Always gets grade curves and extra credit opportunities. They also count you present for just checking in. We had a Drs appointment at 8:30am decided not to take my child to school and I was called at 12:30pm and was told she could show up as late as 2PM and they would count her present all day. School lets out around 3:55. I don’t think that should be acceptable. I don’t feel the curriculum is challenging enough I don’t see my child progressing like she did in HISD. It is way too easy here,m. My kid has also came home telling me there’s physical fights between students during class and lunch time. The teacher has called me to tell me there is class disruptions from other students that prohibit mine from learning. I’ve called to try and speak to the principal about the matter and never received a call back. Not happy with this school at all. The teachers are nice and all but my child’s education doesn’t rely on their niceness I need to see progress! And I have seen little to none.

Monahan is the worst elementary school in the district. Administrators and teachers do not care about the students. They have not developed a plan to close the achievement gaps in years. They are not meeting the needs of the students and they are failing our community. An absolute horrible display of an educational institution to say the least. State data validates their yearly poor performance and nothing is being done to improve student performance. When will this stop?I had to give the school 1 star to post my comment.

Great School!! All of my children have attended Monohan. Have never had any issues and my kids both have strait As.

As a parent I feel the front office staff (ANA & RITA) are very unprofessional,rude and disrespectful. As far as the principal I wish she spent more time at the school and got to know the kids a little more. When I call to speak to her she's in a meeting or busy. I have left msg. for her to call me back and I never hear back from her. I also wish they could be more organized and not send out reminders the day before they need money or donations from us. I do feel parents get involved and wish we had a PTA at this school.
