Do not send your student to this school. If you are an educator, do not apply to this school. It is an unsafe environment for staff and students alike. For a school that supposedly prides themselves for being magnet and STEAM, they only care about STAAR math and STAAR reading scores. Under the current principal (22-23 school year), the environment has become toxic and brutal. Students get bullied with little punishment, special-education students are given minimal opportunities or adjustments, and any teacher who had a passion for their work lost it in this environment. More than 80% of the teaching staff has left this school due to the administrative choices and lack of support. Do not consider this school.

his school needs some help, my nephew attends Drew and says the students are allowed to disrespect the teachers and hit the principal. One teacher is over all the teachers and talks to them like they don't know what they are doing right in front of their class. She was supposed to get fired but they give her chances because the students are scared of her and the school needs her help to control them. Teachers hardly come to work because the students stress them out and threaten to fight them so they are so scared they call in sick. They really need some help, maybe change it to an alternative school. Something needs to be done with the students that are out of control up there. My Prayers go out to those teachers. My sister is pulling him out right after spring break

Drew Academy has been the worst school my son has attended. The teachers and front office staff lack communication skills & compassion. I've never had a teacher ignore e-mails, telephone calls, and notes from the principle. I ve even spoken with neighboring schools staff and it seems that everyone knows the lack of proficiency with this school. The schools overall appearance is even concerning. It's either burning up or ice cold, how are you to lean in these conditions? I definitely agree with the students where they are treated like criminals. How do you expect children to act when they are stereo typed before they walk thru the door. You have metal detectors and personal item searches. I can understand you want to ensure the children s safety but at what point do you step back and put yourself in their shoes? How would you feel if you were treated that way? Then you don't want children to have cell phones but at the same time you won t let them use the front office phone. I can go on for days about my dissatisfaction with this school but I will leave you with this...IF YOU CAN AVOID SENDING YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL PLEASE DO SO!
