This is school is the worst DO NOT put your kids here!!! I warn you these teachers are uneducated and extremely disrespectful! I did not expect this school to be bad I had my kid come here for kindergarten around 2016 it was a great year but we had one teacher that was disrespectful the problem we had that the teacher wouldn’t want to show my kindergartener how to cut paper but a parent did it instead! Your telling me a teacher told my kid she needed to learn herself is extremely unprofessional!? My kid went back after 5 years and had issues with a teacher being mean and disrespectful to her for no reason my daughter mental health was really bad cause teachers would disrespect her. The teacher told her she couldn’t use the bathroom after I talked to the teacher my daughter has problems and need to go when her body needs too! After teacher told the class NO ONE could go?!? Teacher would make my kid feel bad for no reason my kid was NOT a troubled student she was rather shy and wouldn’t speak!? Teachers cared for themselves did not care for students. This was 2023-2024 year I’m super disappointed after I talked to the district I took my kids out of school 3 months into school year. It’s crazy how it isn’t kids picking on my child it’s grown adults!? And the principal did not care after I talked to her about this! This school is a big NO NO! I beg you don’t put your kids here. Unless you want them to be disrespected and treated horribly by the teachers and staff! Do not recommend at all!

Briargrove was a great disservice to my daughter. Her teacher was a first year teacher with no experience and not certified. We realized things wouldn't improve at the school because no one cared so we transferred her to Spring Branch and the level of professionalism, support, resources, and skill within the school is amazing. My 6 year old left Briargrove not able to identify her basic sight words! It's so sad and we are so frustrated to have allowed the school to offer zero effort in her academics. At the new school the assistant principal and principal are both apart of the conversation surrounding my daughter's development to meet milestones. Basically doing what Briargrove failed to do.

Great neighborhood school, very involved PTO (parent teacher organization) with lots of programming for kids and parents. The current principal, Mrs. Jones, has done a fantastic job of bringing in new programs - basketball team, cheer team, and hired a great music teacher, Mrs. Tillman, who put on at least 5 different shows, including a holiday show, with the kids for parents. Mrs. Tillman also chairs the school choir. Teachers like Mrs. Orzabal, Mrs. Russo, Mr. Galle, Mr. Yolland, and Mrs. Molina who have been at this school for over a decade, and many others, are what makes this school great for our kids.

My son recently finished his first year at BGE. We have had a positive experience thus far. I am impressed with the level of communication from the administration to the parents. The administration trusts and empowers its teachers to run their classrooms as they deem appropriate given the dynamics of the classroom, and stands up for its teachers. My son's teacher was truly amazing. She was consistently willing and available to discuss my son's progress and any concerns that I had throughout the year. I think the school's PTO is a true benefit to the betterment of the school community.

RUN teachers and parents! The school is a joke. This environment lacks leaders that think for themselves. They stick together on poor decisions and are so nonchalant when their beliefs do not align for your needs. You can find a much better environment for your special needs child too. They have no idea what they’re doing. Ms. Stewart puts on a good show for families but runs around confused and clueless.

Poor management with more and more school bullying, current principal and vice principal tried to be acted as nothing happened during the teacher’s non responsible behavior during the school year. as the parents we didn’t get straight answer from the school, remember! The arm can't twist the thigh!

When will schools ask children what they think? When will schools ask parents what they think? When will after school programs ask children and parents what they think?

As a parent, I am so grateful for the engaging and nurturing environment at BGE. This is our fourth year at the school, and we are continually impressed with the teachers our children have had. The IB program fosters a unique learning environment which has given our children a wider perspective and fantastic tools for being a better citizen. HISD served the school well by bringing in Principal Stewart, an experienced, responsive and innovative leader willing to roll with the pandemic punches. School staff is helpful and kind and clearly has students’ best interests at heart. Our kids love BGE!

A wonderful school with an amazing community of parents! Principal Stewart is such a gift to our school and the teachers and staff are so caring yet also provide such rigorous instruction. We have loved our 4 years at Briargrove!

The teachers are very caring and hard working. Unfortunately administration and and the principal should make better academic and school wide decisions. They have potential for growth.

My son is in 2nd grade and my daughter will be in kindergarten. We live in the neighborhood and love walking to school and meeting up with all of their classmates on the way. Principal Hutcheson is excellent and makes every effort to hear and address both students' and parents' concerns. The teachers are great as well, and have challenged and nurtured my son each year. Extra opportunities for more challenging work in the gifted and talented program have kept my son even more engaged in school. The IB World program is unique and beneficial to students at all grade levels. Briargrove Elementary is a great neighborhood school with a good sense of community and academic excellence.

The teachers are really good. Our issues with communication and the principal can be overlooked because the teachers at Briargrove, to me, are pretty caring educators which is what matters most to me.

My Son attended this school for 2 years, 3rd and 4th grade, his teacher was Ms. ZaZa, she is the best teacher ever. I also really liked the school and all the activities that they use to encourage the children to learn with a lot of fun activities, I liked that you can have lunch with your kid any time, I use to worked 5 minutes from the school so sometimes I drove there and had lunch with him he loved it. I’ve never have a problem with the ladies in the front desk or with the teachers, the only minor think is that my kid complained sometimes that they won’t let him run in the playground, and I’m sure is to keep everyone safe, but that’s the time to play, my son told me, is not fun jus to be standing there.

I do not have children that attend here but, I was a perspective parent who was considering sending my child here and never got past the front desk. The women at the front desk were horrible and rude. I can not imagine how they are allowed to continue to work there. They have no customer service skills at all. They in no way made me feel welcomed. I asked questions only to the quick answers with no details. My child would have been a kindergartener at this school so, as a first time parent struggling through the process of registering her child for school they had no compassion, understanding, or time to give me. I was bother to them and they made sure I was aware of it. Everyone knows the front desk is the first and last impression people get when entering and leaving a place. They sure did leave an impression but it was not one I will remember fondly.

My son has been here from Kindergarten, he is now in the 2nd grade. First couple of years were good. My son enjoyed going to this school until this year. New principal is unorganized. And it comes across in the teachers as well. I don't feel that they are setting students up for success. Very unhappy with this school this year. I don't think my son will be returning next year. I also agree with some comments that they don't care about anything but money. Will be sending my son to a Katy school next year. They have higher ratings and better curriculum to set students up for success.
