My child spent more time in the counsellor's office here than in the classroom learning to due extreme bullying.

My child has benefited tremendously from attending Lunalilo Elementary for 6 years (Kindergarten thru 5th grade). The school utilizes computer based assessments and technology to ensure that each student is challenged at a level appropriate to their abilities, particularly in Math and Reading. Progress is also tracked throughout each school year. The school has a Hawaiiana program (particular emphasis is placed in this at 4th grade), and Band program for all 5th graders. Their JPO (Junior Police Officer) team scored a perfect 100 at the 2018 JPO Field Day. Lunalilo's Math Team participates in Washington Middle School's feeder school math meet, and in 2018, Lunalilo placed in the Top 3 for the Team Competition, and Individual Competition. The overall (Countdown Round) winner was also from Lunalilo. Their BIONIC club encourages 4th and 5th graders to help other students thru their activities and volunteer work at school. They have a library monitor program for interested students (3rd-5th grade) to learn the card catalog system in shelving books, as well as how to work with assisting their peers in checking in/out of books. They have 3 computer labs, and provide weekly computer classes for all students (Kindergarten to grade 5). 4th and 5th graders are loaned a Chromebook for use during class hours to supplement studies.

A student recently was told a statement which broke the chapter 19 rules. Nothing was done to make the child feel comfortable. It was a very serious statement as to where charges were pressed. Nothing was done! If there was negative in ratings, I'd choose negative. I feel for this child.

Great teachers at Lunalilo. My three kids went to this school are now doing very well in private schools. Teachers are nuturing during the early years and a little more strict as they get older. It also won the Blue Ribbon award a couple years ago. I wish there was more parent involvement but it may be low as a portion of the student body is not from a english speaking household and/or other financial issues.
