I am a Redland Elementary parent. Please note that all of the negative reviews are from 2017 and before. Since 2017, Redland Elementary has had new leadership, which is reflected in the more recent reviews, which are glowing.

This school is under rated. I have lived in Homestead all my life. I have been to all the Elementary schools in the area to do Career days so I get to see how the schools are, the teachers , the staff, the kids etc. The things I like about Redland Elementary is the Location, the Office staff , Security and the Teachers. Location : not near any busy streets or town traffic. Office staff : always helpful . Security : Ms Z is always there in the morning greeting the kids and watching each and every one of them as there dropped off making sure they enter the school. She pretty much knows all the kids by their names which is pretty cool. The Principle Mr. Montes is very involved with the school in all aspects. My child attends this school because I didn't want her to go to the school that was in my home area. Im happy Redland had room for her. My Childs teacher Ms Valdes has been great ! My daughters learning has been awesome . And its nice to have a teacher you can reach out to anytime ! I know a lot of parents are all ways trying to get their kids into AirBase Elem. But with all Ratings set a side I think Redland is just as good!!!

My child has learned so much more after transferring to this school. His reading skills have improved drastically and his teacher really cares about her students. I love the school very happy about it.

My son attended school here since Kindergarden. The teachers that my son had were helpful and communicated with me when my son needed something. My overall impression of the school was very good.

Don't take your children here. No compassion, no friendly learning environment. The principle and staff are awful.

Dear parents please be informed,my two children went to this school kindergarten through fifth grade if a had the resources I would of changed schools. This is not a good school, most of the teachers are unprofessional. I have a list of complaints that its just to long to list. The politics at this school favors the teachers. The principle never listens to a parent's complaints doesn't take anything in consideration, also gives the trachers the benefit of doubt even when facts are presented to him. Please review this schools test scores and notice how the grades have drastically dropped on the past three years. My advice to any parent take your child to a different school he or she will be better off.. no child should experience the discrimination that my child went through. Save yourself the headaches.

Redland Elementary has positives & negatives like any other school. My child truly enjoys going here & that's one of the reasons I gave 3 stars. To address the office staff, I'd have to say they have never been snotty or rude to me BUT I've witnessed such behavior of the staff towards other parents and other office coworkers. There is a definite lack of communication between parents & teachers. Also the teacher to student ratio is unbalanced...too many students for any one teacher. The pickup line allows one for much entertainment. Just today cars were beeping at one another to move up. I've witnessed fender benders along with the occasional cussing & middle finger throwing shenanigans. Truly classy.

Safety? Safety is not leaving the gate open that is directly connected to the disruptive Middle School next door. You can also forget about getting the attention of the office staff. They will let you stand there for an eternity and pretend they don't see you. Stand by and listen how they speak to the children, it's degrading. The administration hears everything that goes on and never does a thing about it. Who's running this school anyway???!!!! The only reason I gave parent involve a 2 is because they don't want you around unless your sending $$ for a donation.

Love the school and the reason I chose this school for my son to attend was that I found out that the staff members also have children that attend and I figured that the school must be good. By the way I have no problems volunteering for fieldtrips and field day. I just went to the office to sign up as a chaperone. The school is locked for the safety of the children, that is what I heard. I asked, it's amazing what you learn when you ask.

The office staff is snotty, rude and does not know what they are doing. The disorganization among the office staff is apparent. Theis is important because they are the first, and sometimes only face of the school you will see. Some of the teachers could really care less about the kids or their safety and education. Better off virtual schooling!!! Or at least find another option. The new principal tries, but it isn't enough when your staff doesn't care!!!!
