As with all cities and schools there are the good and the bad. And Holden as a town has more bad than good. The problems with drugs is beyond the point local police can do anything. And the people that provide the drugs are not getting arrested. This town is not a great place to raise your child. As for the school, there are many good and amazing teachers that really care about the children. But when you go to the administrative level, watch out. Because all they care about are themselves and their CLICK. You will not have an issue taken care of and you will not be treated equally. To make this whole thing more understandable, 19 seasoned teachers left the school in one year. That is way too many to leave such a small school district. And these are teachers that were in the district for many years. If you need to move in this area. Do not choose Holden. There are too many issues that need to be taken care of, including old money that helps keep the drug dealer family members going. This town could be a great place. But right now as I see it, enter at your own risk!

I have 3 children that currently attend Holden Elementary. I will have 4 attending next school year. I love Holden Elementary. Class sizes are perfect and my kids are treated as individuals not as just another kid. Teachers and Principals are very involved in each child's life like a family member would be and attend many outside sporting events for their students. Principals are very good about being seen walking around and visiting with students and are active in the school. They do a great job. School even has therapy dogs that are like family to the students and are in the halls visiting the kids and the kids love them. The school is very organized and parents are very informed. Principals handle any problems/issues immediately and respectfully. As you can tell, I am very pleased and we love Holden Elem. Extra love to Ms. Shipp, Mrs. Hertzog, Ms. Nash, Ms. Chaney, Mrs. Norris, and Mr. Sands specifically for making our years at Holden the best.
