My son started his elementary school journey with Stevens since Kindergarten. We love it here! The progressive learning methods really helped to boost my son’s passion for learning. Curriculum is well designed. Also they taught kids the skills that will benefit them in a long run (presentation, research, teamwork, project management, etc). We are in 3rd grade at Newport campus and it is a very diverse group of kids. As a minority, I feel respected and my culture was honored and valued. Most importantly, my son became more and more confident and just happy to go to school everyday. Highly recommend!

A lot of things depend on the teacher you've got. But the school in general listens to the parents. We had excellent, great and average teachers through our years at Stevens.Social-emotional aspect is great! I see the progress in my child and I see how much Stevens has done in this area.Academically Stevens seems to be good but again it totally depends on the teacher. Some teachers are stronger academically, some focus their attention on other things.Stevens is diverse ethnically and Stevens community is very friendly and united. We have a lot of social events where we meet each other and build a community for our kids.I only wish Stevens had a bigger campus in Hoboken so we could have more enrichment programs.

School limits admission of minorities. They extensive admission process weeds out Asians and other minorities. Other private schools in this area like EMS have 70% minorities, while this schools avoids minorities and keeps them below 20%.School doesn’t reveal their demographics for this reason.Don’t waste your time and money.

I could not agree more with earlier reviewer. We are also an ethnic diverse family (mostly Hispanic) and the staff didn’t make us feel welcomed. We also felt discriminated against and to this day (3 years out if the school) I never understood their “progressive” method... there was nothing progressive about the school, just a bunch of people trying to make money

The administration needs to learn what the word “progressive” actually means. My child was discriminated against at this 80% white school by two (white) women) administrators who could not tolerate my son’s learning difference. Rather than embracing our multi-ethnic, multi-cultural family, they treated us with disdain and outright hostility towards the end. It was sad to see, but not a surprise. Lots of “progressive schools” are not what they claim to be. Stevens Cooperative is no different. Save yourself a lot of grief by passing over this disappointing school.

Homework: mostly busy work. Useless work to just stress your child out.Teachers: Some are interested in your child, some not so muchLeadership: pushing indoctrinationCharacter: Kids act like privileged brats, some even have a savior complex. Pushes them under a one-sided agenda. Bullying: They don't care, don't want to hear about it. No matter how many times you bring it up.

Stevens is a community and that says a lot when you are educating children. Despite its recent growth I still feel Stevens as a small-big family where people know your name, kids know their peers' and teachers' families. My son has never complained of going to school in his elementary-middle school years - that sums it up!

Ultra-Progressive School who was just served up a healthy dose of its own medicine and is now futilely going overboard to placate the ultra-sensitive who will never be placated. Implemented Marxist mandates this year which tries to indoctrinate the kids hard with buzzwords like "Inclusion" and "Diversity" (of color of skin, not thought), White Privilege, etc. and then takes an Orwellian turn by telling people not to use words like Mom & Dad, or Happy Holidays and not to discuss concepts of racism and anti-racism with your own kids until they define it for you. On a positive note, pre-COVID kids seem to enjoy it and make friends and they evidently have great placements in top tier high schools. Now that most of them are in New York and that city has turned into a cesspool its hard to justify staying in Stevens. Oh yeah, part of their woke agenda is telling the kids they shouldn't think going to private school is better than public school. Then why did I pay over $100,000 over the years for it??? Jokes on me (if I'm even allowed to use the pronoun "me" anymore, have to check their PC guide.)

Magnificent! We joined the school from abroad when the course had already started and our daughter made friends immediately, she felt so much loved that she is happy to go to school everyday and sad when it's time to leave. If this is not a good sign, then what is?

My sons last year and he is ready to leave. Kids just seem tired of each other and teachers. The energy seems bad.

Overall excellent school and excellent community. No school will satisfy every parent and every student. Parents and kids come from such diverse backgrounds and personalities that there will always be a handful of kids who will not work out. For most of its students and parents, Stevens have been a great journey.

Not great. Do not recommend if you are looking for a rich and comprehensive education. Not enough after school activities and no evidence of strong academic staff

It is hard to rate just one experience at Steven’s Cooperarive School. For the past nine years our children have become life long learners, and continue to have unforgetable experiences!Being a part of a Coop allows parents to have both an understanding and experience of what their child is learning.

Overall, extremely positive experience. Teachers and administrators have been very responsive to any and all concerns we've had as parents. In the end, it comes down to my kids and they love school. I did not share their view as a child, so the fact that they are enjoying the learning process speaks volumes to the great job the school is doing with them and for them.

My son joined Stevens in the 5th grade after transferring from another Hoboken private school. We were happy with the former school's education but they had issues with teaching young boys. We never had issues with Stevens, our son received a wonderful education, went on trips including being part of a student exchange program in Mexico. Stevens did a great job connecting us with great NYC High schools which he was well prepared for. He has since graduated H.S. and was accepted to prestigious colleges throughout the U.S. He is now enjoying is freshman year in college. Thank you Stevens!

We could not be happier with our Stevens experience. My children are completely different and both of them are loved, respected, and challenged by the school and their very individual needs are met. The teachers are top-notch, the administration is thoughtful and forward-thinking, and the whole place feels like a giant family. Cannot say enough good things. We are so, so happy to be a part of Stevens!

After being so impressed with the quality of student presenting at the open day, I was delighted to have my kid accepted to Stevens The progressive and collaborative teaching methods implemented at Stevens create self aware confident thinkers that are articulate and well rounded individuals. My child was diagnosed with a learning difference in grade 3 and the continued support we have received has been excellent. The staff are always available and willing to go the extra mile to ensure the classroom experience is just as profitable for my child as any other.
