Absolutely one of the best schools in the high desert! The staff and teachers are great and genuinely care about the students.

The school is absolutely horrible, I have one special Ed that they told me, wasn't and one child who can read that they told me couldn't.

I have kids at various schools due to their fit/preferences/ages. My son loved his Kinder experience with Mrs. Pace. She has been a teacher for over 25 years and is extremely dynamic, encouraging, playful and gentle. I have taught all my kids to read prior to K, but the older ones complained that being overly prepared made school "boring", so he was my case study. I did not teach him prior to K and kept a more hands off approach in regards 'academics'. We encourage museums, reading, arts, but being a boy, I did not want to start the "homework" words, etc. He learned to read, do math, and become a great citizen/friend/student under Mrs. Pace. She should definitely train other teachers in her approach. Everyone cares at the school. I do believe that "counsel" (sharing and caring) methods of Montessori should be welcome since it would decrease some of the bullying that some of the kids (my own and friends') have experienced. Most kids are great but a few repeat offenders seem to not get that such is "unacceptable". Encouraging gentleness and self-direction vs. proctor based boundaries would be a good addition.

All three of my daughters are either going to this school currently or have gone to this school and I can tell you honestly that it's great. The staff really tries to make it fun and safe. Teachers in general are overworked and underpaid, but these folks still give it their all everyday! No school is "perfect" but we have been happy over the 13 years in the district.

This is a great school. I attended from kindergarden up until sixth grade and the staff is very friendly and caring towards the students. I would recommend this school.

I have been a parent of several HES students for the last 12 years and still have a few more to go before my youngest moves on to RMS. I love the teachers and appreciate their hard work and dedication to all of the students. They truly care about the whole student and work hard to help them grow emotionally as well as intellectually.

Regards comment of Jul 22 from other parent. I'm a parent of those children who get awards and I'm far from helping in the school, I do it when I have the time, I have a full time job and one part time, but I'm behind my children's homework or studies, it's very hard and sometimes I only want to sleep, but our kids are the future, so we must start at home. The school offers after school program to help those that are behind or for working parents. The SCHOOL IS GOOD. We have a new principal and the most important new superintendent, hopefully we will see results soon with him. We need a PTA teacher and gym-place where the children can do exercise without being in the cafeteria when outside is impossible for the heat, the wind, etc. The school district has portable classrooms that they can use for it. But one of the most important things I considere we need, is add in the lunch: salads and fresh fruit as part of daily basics so if a kid or employees want to have a salad instead of regular lunch they can. They can start with 10 a day and go from there, it's not excess cost and will give them an idea where to go from there. Hopefully the district pays attention to this.

Overall this is a really good school. They have great teachers and staff. The principal for the past three years is great. There is a lack of arts, music and fieldtrips in the last two years but maybe their budget has been cut dramatically. It is very safe and they communicate very well with parents. The only negative thing I can say is you tend to see a pattern with the awards given out to students whose parents are heavily involved in the school. I'm sure they are great students and I'm sure it does have alot to do with the parents involvement. However, not only does it make parents who work fulltime jobs outside of the home feel like failures when those parents who are at the school everyday get praise and called favorites, it makes us wonder are the awards truly earned or are they given out because their parent is a "favorite".....
