I had 4 children go through this school and they all had a great experience. The teachers were caring, professional, and dedicated. My children were all very much prepared as they moved to the next grades and then to high school, and then to college. All of my children have very good memories of their years at Harrison Middle School. As a parent, I always felt my children were very safe at HMS.

HMS has received A ratings from the Department of Education for the last 5 years. It is a high performing school. The teachers are willing to go the extra mile for kids. The facilities are top notch. My child has had a great experience. She LOVES the after school activities. I am so thankful to have such a great school in our community.

This is my family's third child at Harrison Middle School, and we cannot say enough wonderful things about this school. Our kids wake up every morning eager to learn, engage, and be a part of this safe community. The students are inquisitive and kind in no small part thanks to the teachers, who meet each child's needs.

They are terrible with bullying and I don’t recommend this school. The bully’s are many and they will never stop because the staff members don’t do anything they just sit and watch kids get bullied. The kids get away with any bullying and violence or assault. The teachers are sometimes good but some are very rude and disrespectful to kids they don’t like.

Pros- the school building is new with up to date library, technology and safety features. The school officers are excellent and always present. The bus system is reliable. The secretaries are friendly and helpful. A select group of teachers seem like they are dedicated and have the energy to do their job. Cons- There is no outside dedicated play or break space for children. They have an 10-15 minute air break in the back of a parking lot. The curriculum is weak and doesn’t prepare children for what is expected in college either by content or teaching children value of studying and putting out the effort needed to succeed. It’s weak and unaccountable. My children were expected to put out little or no effort and they did not retain knowledge. Finally, it’s 99.5% Caucasian and the bullying and targeting here of those that are different is one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen in my years as a military wife traveling America and experiencing many, many different school systems. It should not be tolerated at any level. Teachers wore political and what I would describe as controversial slogans on their clothing and accessories. My family saw homophobic slurs, confederate flags and political attire that would likely make anyone outside of this area uncomfortable. I do not recommend this school for content or character building. My children were targeted and treated coldly by other students and way toI many staff members. If this is indeed your given district, I would recommend and apply for an inter-district transfer and avoid the Harrison School District completely. We drove 4 of our children to neighboring districts and the oldest we actually took all the way to the Springdale AR area for a quality education that mirrored what we had seen all across America. Finally, just Google the city itself. Way your options carefully and consider our experience. We are leaving this area as soon as possible.

The teachers are great, they are more than fair to students and are willing to help when needed. The security has been increased to help our children and as a concerned parent with safety, this is excellent.
